Resumo: The Meditation, as a complementary practice, can be useful in hypertension in a way that contributes to the control of stress and can promote positive physiological responses. Objective: to identify the scientific evidence on the practice of meditation in the treatment of hypertensive patients. Methodology: this is an integrative review about meditation as a complementary health practice for hypertension. The search was carried out by consulting scientific articles from March to July 2019 in electronic databases, including articles published in full between the years 2013 and 2019. Results: of the 193 studies initially identified, only five publications make up the review, referring to randomized clinical trials, which points to types of meditation such as transcendental, Zen, based on brain education or reduction of stress and mindfulness, Conclusion: it was observed that meditation brings benefits in aspects of quality of life, in biochemical markers and in cardiovascular parameters.

Metodología: se trata de una revisión integradora sobre la meditación como práctica de salud complementaria para la hipertensión. La búsqueda se realizó mediante la consulta de artículos científicos de marzo a julio de 2019 en bases de datos electrónicas, incluyendo artículos publicados íntegramente entre los años 2013 y 2019. Resultados: de los 193 estudios inicialmente identificados, solo cinco publicaciones componen la revisión, refiriéndose a ensayos clínicos aleatorios que apunta a tipos de meditación como la trascendental, zen, basada en la educación cerebral o la reducción del estrés y el mindfulness, Conclusión: se observó que la meditación trae beneficios en aspectos de calidad de vida, en marcadores bioquímicos y en parámetros cardiovasculares.A meditação, como prática complementar pode ser útil na hipertensão de modo que, colabora para o controle do estresse e pode promover respostas fisiológicas positivas. Objetivo: identificar as evidências científicas sobre a prática da meditação no tratamento para hipertensos. Metodologia: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa acerca da meditação como prática complementar em saúde para hipertensão. A busca deu-se por meio de consulta a artigos científicos no período de março a julho de 2019 em bases de dados eletrônicas, incluindo artigos publicados na íntegra entre os anos de 2013 e 2019. Resultados: dos 193 estudos identificados inicialmente, somente cinco publicações referente a ensaios clínicos randomizados compõem a revisão, a qual aponta para tipos de meditação como transcendental, Zen, baseada na educação do cérebro ou redução do estresse e mindfulness.
