Alveolar preservation after tooth extraction for later installation of dental implant: a case report

Resumo: There are several causes that can lead to the loss of a dental element, such as: dental fracture, periodontal disease, among others. The removal of this tooth causes the bone tissue that surrounds it to undergo a physiological loss. In order to maintain bone height and thickness (alveolar preservation), for the future rehabilitation of this patient with dental implant, bone graft and membrane are used. Therefore, the objective of this work was to describe the technique performed in a clinical case, in which an alveolus was preserved that, due to its bone deficiency, it was not possible to install an implant. Element 15 was removed due to a root fracture, and the socket was filled with xenogeneic bone graft, along with a resorbable membrane, aiming at preserving this socket for future installation of an implant. It was concluded that alveolar proservation with the use of xenogeneic graft and resorbable membrane is a favorable technique that provided the necessary bone quantity and the preservation of bone walls, enabling a future implant installation.

La extracción de este diente provoca que el tejido óseo que lo rodea sufra una pérdida fisiológica. Con el fin de mantener la altura y el grosor del hueso (preservación alveolar), para la futura rehabilitación de este paciente se utilizan implantes dentales, injerto óseo y membrana. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo fue describir la técnica realizada en un caso clínico, en el que se conservó un alvéolo que, por su deficiencia ósea, no fue posible colocar un implante. El elemento 15 fue removido debido a una fractura radicular y el alvéolo fue rellenado con injerto óseo xenogénico, junto con una membrana reabsorbible, con el objetivo de preservar este alvéolo para la futura instalación de un implante. Se concluyó que la proconservación alveolar con el uso de injerto xenogénico y membrana reabsorbible es una técnica favorable que proporcionó la cantidad de hueso necesaria y la preservación de las paredes óseas, posibilitando la futura instalación del implante.Várias são as causas que podem levar a perda de um elemento dentário, tais como: fratura dentária, doença periodontal, entre outras. A remoção deste dente faz com que o tecido ósseo que o circunda, passe por uma perda fisiológica. Com o intuito de manter a altura e espessura óssea (preservação alveolar), para a futura reabilitação deste paciente com implante dentário, faz-se uso de enxerto ósseo e membrana. Portanto, o objetivo do trabalho foi descrever a técnica realizada em um caso clínico, no qual foi preservado um alvéolo que devido a sua deficiência óssea, não era possível a instalação de um implante. O elemento removido foi o 15 devido a uma fratura radicular, sendo o alvéolo preenchido com enxerto ósseo xenôgeno, juntamente com uma membrana reabsorvível, visando a proservação deste alvéolo, para futura instalação de um implante.
