School Physical Education and Management: evidence in public school context

Resumo: School management’s main focus is to assure that institutions are able to successfully carry out their educational role. This article aims to identify the understanding possessed by school manager about Physical Education and how they outline social and educational goals in this context. Qualitative research was based on a semi-structured interview scrip, which was built based on the guiding principles defined by UNESCO for management in Physical Education. Data analysis was performed through IRAMUTEQ software, using ‘‘Word Cloud’’ and ‘’Similatiry Analysis’’ techniques. Results point that the manager assume a supporting role in actions linked to Physical Education in schools, due to a lack of mastery of curricular component specificities. Also, decision centrality falls on teachers, modifying the decision making structure in school’s reality.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar la comprensión que el directivo escolar tiene sobre la Educación Física y cómo se plantean los objetivos sociales y educativos en este contexto. La investigación cualitativa se basó en un guión de entrevista semiestructurada, que se construyó a partir de los principios rectores definidos por la UNESCO para la gestión en la educación física escolar. El análisis de datos se realizó con el software IRAMUTEQ, utilizando las técnicas de Nube de Palabras y Análisis de Similitud. Los resultados indican que el gestor asume un papel de apoyo en las acciones vinculadas a la Educación Física en las escuelas debido a la falta de dominio de la especificidad del componente curricular. Asimismo, la centralidad de las decisiones recae en los docentes del área, modificando la estructura de toma de decisiones en la realidad escolar.A gestão escolar tem como foco central garantir que as instituições tenham condições para realizar seu papel de educar com êxito. Este artigo visa identificar o entendimento que dos gestores escolares acerca da Educação Física e como traçam os objetivos sociais e educacionais nesse contexto. A pesquisa de natureza qualitativa baseada em um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturadas, ao qual foi construído a partir dos princípios definidos pela UNESCO para gestão em Educação Física escolar. A análise de dados foi realizada com o software IRAMUTEQ, a partir das técnicas de Nuvem de Palavras e Analise de similitude.  Os resultados apontam que os gestores assumem um papel coadjuvante nas ações vinculadas à Educação Física nas escolas em razão da ausência de domínio de fato da especificidade do componente curricular.
