The problem of evasion and failure of students in the regular degree course in Biological Sciences at Escola Normal Superior-UEA/ENS

Resumo: In recent decades, graduation has become very accessible to the general population. During the process of intense demand for higher education courses, the number of students who dropped out, were in university retention and failed became alarming. Evasion, retention and failure can have several triggering causes, from financial problems, family problems, mental disorders, course curriculum, etc. There is an even more specific phenomenon to be discussed: evasion in undergraduate courses. The Pedagogical Project of the Degree in Biological Sciences states that since its implementation in 2006, it has trained 61 graduates in Biological Sciences out of a total of 227 who entered until 2009. Of this total, 65 are still active in the course completion phase , with pending issues in disciplines. Therefore, there is a significant dropout rate and university retention that is not problematized in the institution. Therefore, the following scientific problem to be investigated was launched: What factors lead students of the Licentiate Degree in Biological Sciences at Escola Normal Superior to drop out and fail? Therefore, a questionnaire was sent via e-mail to 200 students of the regular course of Licentiate in Biological Sciences at Escola Normal Superior (regulars and dropouts) in order to find out the reasons for dropping out of the course and failure. Of these, 112 responses were obtained. Data were processed within the parameters of qualitative research. As a result, there was a significant association between mental disorders and evasion/failure, as well as that there is an association between successive repetitions and evasion in the studied group.

Durante el proceso de intensa demanda de cursos de educación superior, el número de estudiantes que desertaron, estaban en retención universitaria y reprobaron se volvió alarmante. La evasión, la retención y el fracaso pueden tener varias causas desencadenantes, desde problemas económicos, problemas familiares, trastornos mentales, plan de estudios, etc. Hay un fenómeno aún más específico a discutir: la evasión en los cursos de pregrado. El Proyecto Pedagógico de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas establece que desde su implementación en el año 2006, ha formado a 61 licenciados en Ciencias Biológicas de un total de 227 que ingresaron hasta el año 2009. De este total, 65 aún se encuentran activos en la fase de culminación de la carrera. con asuntos pendientes en las disciplinas. Por lo tanto, existe una importante tasa de deserción y retención universitaria que no se problematiza en la institución. Por lo tanto, se planteó el siguiente problema científico a investigar: ¿Qué factores llevan a los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas de la Escola Normal Superior a desertar y reprobar? Por ello, se envió un cuestionario vía e-mail a 200 estudiantes del curso regular de Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas de la Escola Normal Superior (regulares y desertores) con el fin de conocer los motivos de la deserción y reprobación del curso. De estos, se obtuvieron 112 respuestas. Los datos fueron procesados ​​dentro de los parámetros de la investigación cualitativa. Como resultado, hubo una asociación significativa entre los trastornos mentales y la evasión/fracaso, así como también que existe una asociación entre las repeticiones sucesivas y la evasión en el grupo estudiado.Nas últimas décadas, a graduação tornou-se muito acessível à população em geral. Durante o processo de procura intensa por cursos de nível superior, tornou-se também alarmante o número de alunos desistentes, em retenção universitária e reprovados. A evasão, retenção e reprovação podem possuir diversas causas desencadeadoras, desde problemas financeiros, problemas familiares, transtornos mentais, grade curricular do curso e etc. Tem-se um fenômeno ainda mais específico a ser discutido: a evasão nos cursos de licenciatura. O Projeto pedagógico do curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas coloca que desde sua implantação em 2006, formou 61 licenciados em Ciências Biológicas de um total de 227 que ingressaram até o ano de 2009. Deste total, 65 ainda estão ativos em fase de conclusão do curso, com pendências em disciplinas. Portanto, há um índice de evasão e retenção universitária significativa que não é problematizada na instituição. Lançou-se, portanto, o seguinte problema científico a ser investigado: Qual(is) fatores levam os discentes do curso de licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas da Escola Normal Superior a Evasão e Reprovação? Sendo assim, enviou-se um questionário via e-mail para 200 alunos do curso regular de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas da Escola Normal Superior (regulares e evadidos) a fim de descobrir quais os motivos ocasionam a desistência do curso e a reprovação. Destes, obteve-se 112 respostas. Os dados foram processados dentro dos parâmetros da pesquisa qualitativa.
