Resumo: Objective: To report the experience of a nursing student regarding the difficulties faced by the CIHDOTT / OPO team during communication between the nurse and the family in the process of organ and tissue donation for transplants. Methodology: This is a descriptive, exploratory study of the type of experience report in a Hospital and Emergency Room located in the eastern part of the city of Manaus - Amazonas. Results: Communication represents the primary element for the nurse's interaction with the family, which provides awareness of the importance of donation. However, several factors contribute negatively to this, such as the lack of knowledge of some health professionals in the hospital and society about the theme. Conclusion: The need for a greater approach on Brain Death and the stages of the organ donation process during graduation was highlighted, as well as training courses on communication with professionals and bad news to family members.

Metodología: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, exploratorio del tipo de relato de experiencia en un Hospital y Sala de Emergencias ubicado en la zona oriente de la ciudad de Manaus - Amazonas. Resultados: La comunicación representa el elemento primordial para la interacción del enfermero con la familia, lo que da a conocer la importancia de la donación. Sin embargo, varios factores contribuyen negativamente a esto, como el desconocimiento de algunos profesionales de la salud en el hospital y la sociedad sobre el tema. Conclusión: Se destacó la necesidad de un mayor abordaje de la Muerte Cerebral y las etapas del proceso de donación de órganos durante la graduación, así como cursos de capacitación en comunicación con profesionales y malas noticias a familiares.Resumo Objetivo: Relatar a experiência de uma acadêmica de enfermagem frente às dificuldades enfrentadas pela equipe da CIHDOTT/OPO durante a comunicação entre o enfermeiro e a família no processo de doação de órgãos e tecidos para transplantes. Metodologia: Trata – se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório do tipo relato de experiência em um Hospital e Pronto – Socorro localizado na zona Leste da cidade de Manaus – Amazonas. Resultados: A comunicação representa o elemento primordial para a interação do enfermeiro com a família, oque proporciona a conscientização sobre a importância da doação. No entanto, diversos fatores contribuem de forma negativa para isso, como a falta de conhecimento de alguns profissionais de saúde do hospital e da sociedade sobre a temática.
