Resumo: Introduction: The autistic spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by behavioral changes, social interaction and communication deficit. These manifestations cause changes in family life. General objective: To analyze the impact of the diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder on family life. Method: This is an integrative review research. The search sources were SciELO, MEDLINE, Lilacs and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Results and Discussion: The study showed that there is a deficit of knowledge of family members about the treatment of autism spectrum disorder, as well as difficulties in accepting the diagnosis and dealing with the situation. Among the main impacts the study showed: stress, family disruption, difficulties in treatment and lack of support network from health institutions and monitoring of health professionals. Conclusion: Caring for children with autism spectrum disorder is a great challenge and a physical and psychological burden on family members. However, when the disorder is diagnosed and treated early, it improves child development, family bonding and social interaction, minimizing the suffering of all family members.

Estas manifestaciones provocan cambios en la vida familiar. Objetivo general: Analizar el impacto del diagnóstico del espectro autista en la vida familiar. Método: Se trata de una investigación de revisión integradora. Las fuentes de búsqueda fueron SciELO, MEDLINE, Lilacs y Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Resultados y discusión: El estudio demostró que existe un déficit de conocimientos de los familiares sobre el tratamiento del trastorno del espectro autista, así como dificultades para aceptar el diagnóstico y afrontar la situación. Entre los principales impactos el estudio mostró: el estrés, la ruptura familiar, las dificultades en el tratamiento y la falta de red de apoyo de las instituciones sanitarias y el seguimiento de los profesionales de la salud. Conclusión: El cuidado de los niños con espectro autista es un gran desafío y una sobrecarga física y psicológica en las familias, mientras que cuando el trastorno se diagnostica y se trata de forma precoz mejora el desarrollo del niño, el vínculo familiar y la interacción social, minimizando el sufrimiento de todos los familiares.Introdução: O Transtorno do espectro autista é um distúrbio do neurodesenvolvimento caracterizado por alterações comportamentais, na interação social e no déficit de comunicação. Essas manifestações causam alterações na vida familiar. Objetivo geral: Analisar o impacto do diagnóstico do transtorno do espectro autista na vida familiar. Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de revisão de integrativa. As fontes de busca foram SciELO, MEDLINE, Lilacs e centro de controle de Doenças e Prevenção (CDC). Resultados e Discussão: O estudo mostrou que existe déficit de conhecimentos dos familiares acerca do tratamento do transtorno do espectro autista, bem como dificuldades de aceitação do diagnóstico e de lidar com a situação. Entre os principais impactos o estudo evidenciou: estresse, desestruturação familiar, dificuldades no tratamento e falta de rede de apoio das instituições de saúde e acompanhamento dos profissionais de saúde.
