Pharmaceutical care and assistance: the challenges envisaged by the pharmacist working at drugstores and pharmacies in Porto Alegre, RS: an experience report

Resumo: The pharmaceutical care or pharmaceutical assistance is an ensemble of actions accomplished by the pharmaceutical professional, aimed to the promotion, protection and recovery of health. In this context, the mission of those professionals in pharmaceutical care permeates the activities discussed in the concept of pharmaceutical care, allowing continuous monitoring in relation to the therapeutic optimization of medicines. The objective of this research is to describe an experience report and evaluate the pharmacist’s challenges to apply pharmaceutical care and attention in a pharmacy in the city of Porto Alegre-RS from September to November 2021. In the results presented through the Analysis by Bardin (2016), it is evident that the pharmaceutical professional is constrained by the work team and lack of social recognition to develop the cycle of pharmaceutical care and attention, as well as to correctly dispense the medication. It is concluded that, for the pharmaceutical professional in pharmacies and drugstores, all this is still a challenge to be pursued by research and by the training of new professionals in educational institutions. With this, the active professional must keep updated about the legislation in force for these establishments.

En este contexto, el papel de los profesionales de la atención farmacéutica en farmacias y droguerías permea las actividades discutidas en el concepto de atención farmacéutica, permitiendo un seguimiento continuo en relación a la optimización terapéutica de los medicamentos. El objetivo de esta investigación es describir un relato de experiencia y evaluar los desafíos del farmacéutico para aplicar el cuidado y la atención farmacéutica en una farmacia de la ciudad de Porto Alegre-RS de septiembre a noviembre de 2021. En los resultados presentados a través del Análisis de Bardin (2016), se evidencia que el profesional farmacéutico se ve constreñido por el equipo de trabajo y la falta de reconocimiento social para desarrollar el ciclo de atención y cuidado farmacéutico, así como para dispensar correctamente el medicamento. Concluyese que, para el profesional farmacéutico en farmacias y droguerías, todo esto sigue siendo un desafío a ser perseguido por la investigación y por la formación de nuevos profesionales en las instituciones educativas. Por tanto, el profesional en activo deberá mantenerse al día con la legislación vigente para estos establecimientos.A atenção Farmacêutica, ou a assistência farmacêutica, é um conjunto de ações, praticadas pelo profissional farmacêutico, voltadas à promoção, proteção e recuperação da saúde. Neste contexto, a atuação do profissional na assistência farmacêutica em farmácias e drogarias perpassa as atividades discutidas no conceito da assistência farmacêutica, permitindo um acompanhamento contínuo em relação à otimização terapêutica dos medicamentos. O objetivo desta pesquisa é o de descrever um relato de experiência e avaliar os desafios do farmacêutico para aplicar a assistência e atenção farmacêutica em uma farmácia no município de Porto Alegre-RS nos meses de setembro a novembro de 2021. Nos resultados apresentados por meio da Análise de Bardin (2016), é evidente que o profissional farmacêutico sofre constrangimento pela equipe de trabalho e falta de reconhecimento social para desenvolver o ciclo da assistência e atenção farmacêutica, bem como fazer uma correta dispensação do medicamento. Conclui-se que, para o profissional farmacêutico nas farmácias e drogarias, tudo isso ainda é um desafio a ser buscado pelas pesquisas e pela formação dos novos profissionais nas instituições de ensino.
