Rural youth and schooling: from denial of rights to possibilities of resistance in Chapada do Apodi-Ceará

Resumo: Rural youth is the focus of this study, with spatial focus on young people from communities located in Chapada do Apodi, especially in the municipalities of Limoeiro do Norte and Quixeré. The research aimed to analyze the challenges of schooling the youth of Chapada do Apodi, in the aspects of access and permanence, as well as to discuss the possibilities of resistance that are built in Chapada do Apodi. The study was divided into two moments: the first discusses the categories territory, rural education and rural youth, articulating them to the context in focus. The second part deals with field research, in which young people from Chapada do Apodi, enrolled or not in high school, were interviewed. The research made it possible to learn about their schooling trajectories, marked sometimes by discontinuity, sometimes by staying in school, allowing to reflect that the context denies this right to several subjects. However, resistance experiences are gradually built in Chapada, which stimulate the redesign of this scenario. Finally, we consider the Jaguaribana Agricultural Family School Zé Maria do Tomé, focused on the formation of rural youth in the region, as an experience that illustrates the political-educational praxis that arises from the resistance of individuals, movements and social collectives.

La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar los desafíos de la escolarización de los jóvenes de Chapada do Apodi, en los aspectos de acceso y permanencia, así como discutir las posibilidades de resistencia que se construyen en Chapada do Apodi. El estudio se dividió en dos momentos: el primero discute las categorías territorio, educación rural y juventud rural, articulándolos con el contexto en foco. La segunda parte trata de la investigación de campo, en la que se entrevistó a jóvenes de Chapada do Apodi, matriculados o no en la escuela secundaria. La investigación permitió conocer sus trayectorias escolares, a veces marcadas por la discontinuidad, a veces por permanecer en la escuela, lo que permite reflejar que el contexto niega este derecho a varias materias. Sin embargo, las experiencias de resistencia se construyen gradualmente en Chapada, lo que estimula el rediseño de este escenario. Finalmente, consideramos la Escuela Agrícola Familiar Jaguaribana Zé Maria do Tomé, centrada en la formación de jóvenes rurales en la región, como una experiencia que ilustra la praxis político-educativa que surge de la resistencia de individuos, movimientos y colectivos sociales.A juventude rural é o foco deste estudo, com recorte espacial aos jovens de comunidades localizadas na Chapada do Apodi, especialmente dos municípios de Limoeiro do Norte e Quixeré. A pesquisa teve como objetivos analisar os desafios da escolarização da juventude da Chapada do Apodi, nos aspectos do acesso e permanência, bem como discutir as possibilidades de resistência que se constroem na Chapada do Apodi. O estudo foi dividido em dois momentos: o primeiro discute as categorias território, educação do campo e juventudes rurais, articulando-as ao contexto em foco. O segundo momento trata da pesquisa de campo, em que foram entrevistados jovens oriundos da Chapada do Apodi, matriculados ou não no ensino médio. A pesquisa possibilitou conhecer suas trajetórias de escolarização, marcadas ora pela descontinuidade, ora pela permanência na escola, permitindo refletir que o contexto nega este direito a vários sujeitos. No entanto, paulatinamente, constroem-se experiências de resistência na Chapada, as quais impulsionam o redesenhar deste cenário.
