History of Mathematics as a motivating topic in the teaching and learning process

Resumo: This work consists of showing how advantageous it is to use the History of Mathematics as a motivating theme in the teaching and learning process. The present work aimed to understand that the History of Mathematics presented to students at the beginning of each mathematical content, can be a great ally of Mathematics teaching. A survey was carried out with students and teachers on the subject, seeking to verify if students have access to the History of Mathematics, if it is taught by teachers in the classroom and if there is an interest in the study of the History of Mathematics. A bibliographic study and two online questionnaires were used, one for teachers and another for students, which had multiple-choice and open-ended questions. The results were very significant, as the research showed that the students and teachers surveyed are aware of the importance of using the History of Mathematics and know how motivating it is and how it promotes significance for mathematical content.

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo comprender que la Historia de las Matemáticas presentada a los estudiantes al inicio de cada contenido matemático, puede ser un gran aliado de la enseñanza de las Matemáticas. Se realizó una encuesta a estudiantes y docentes sobre el tema, buscando verificar si los estudiantes tienen acceso a la Historia de las Matemáticas, si es impartida por los docentes en el aula y si existe interés por el estudio de la Historia de las Matemáticas. Se utilizó un estudio bibliográfico y dos cuestionarios en línea, uno para docentes y otro para estudiantes, los cuales tenían preguntas de opción múltiple y abiertas. Los resultados fueron muy significativos, ya que la investigación mostró que los estudiantes y docentes encuestados son conscientes de la importancia de utilizar la Historia de las Matemáticas y saben cuán motivador es y cuán significativo es para los contenidos matemáticos.Este trabalho consiste em mostrar o quanto é vantajoso usar a História da Matemática como tema motivador no processo de ensino e aprendizagem. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo compreender que a História da Matemática apresentada aos alunos no início de cada conteúdo matemático, pode ser uma grande aliada do ensino de Matemática. Realizou-se uma pesquisa com alunos e professores sobre o assunto, buscando verificar se os alunos têm acesso a História da Matemática, se ela é ministrada pelos professores em sala de aula e se existe um interesse no estudo da História da Matemática. Utilizou-se um estudo bibliográfico e dois questionários online, um questionário destinado aos professores e outro aos alunos, que contaram com perguntas de múltipla escolha e questões abertas.
