Health education as a tool for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the Elderly Health Care Program

Resumo: | Objective: to describe the experience as an academic nursing in health education activities for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly. Method: Qualitative study, descriptive of the type of experience reported in a university extension program. Results: The orientations were carried out through playful activities as a health education strategy. As a consequence of the activities promoted, the elderly showed good acceptance in all the proposed actions, besides showing attention and willingness to perform the activities. The elderly were observed to be more likely to develop the complications of the diseases, so they were guided to collaborate in the attention and care. Conclusion: The health education practices are transforming and bring important contributions to gerontological nursing, because they allow a critical-reflexive thinking and contribute to the formation of future professionals committed to act in an assistance model based on scientific evidence and trained to meet the needs of the elderly population that has been growing over the years, presenting a main focus on prevention of cardiovascular diseases. |

Método: Estudio cualitativo, de carácter descriptivo del tipo de informe de experiencia experimentado en un programa de extensión universitaria. Resultados: Las orientaciones se realizaron mediante actividades lúdicas como estrategia de educación sanitaria. Como consecuencia de las actividades promovidas, los ancianos presentaron buena aceptación en todas las acciones propuestas, además de mostrar atención y disposición en la ejecución de las actividades. Se observó que los ancianos eran más propensos a desarrollar las complicaciones de las enfermedades, por lo que se les orientó para que colaboraran en la atención y el cuidado. Conclusión: Las prácticas de educación sanitaria se están transformando y aportan importantes contribuciones a la enfermería gerontológica, porque permiten un pensamiento crítico-reflexivo y contribuyen a la formación de futuros profesionales comprometidos a actuar en un modelo asistencial basado en la evidencia científica y capacitados para atender las necesidades de la población anciana que ha ido creciendo a lo largo de los años, presentando un enfoque principal en la prevención de las enfermedades cardiovasculares.Objetivo: descrever a experiência como acadêmicas de enfermagem nas atividades de educação em saúde para a prevenção de doenças cardiovasculares em idosos. Método: Estudo qualitativo, de natureza descritiva do tipo relato de experiência vivenciado em um programa de extensão universitária. Resultados: As orientações foram realizadas por meio de atividades lúdicas como estratégia de educação em saúde. Como consequência das atividades promovidas, os idosos relataram a adoção de determinados hábitos, que favorecem a prevenção de doenças cardiovasculares e suas complicações, além de demostrarem atenção e disposição em executar as atividades.
