Resumo: Several authors support that the various mental maps are tools with the potential to help the learning process, as Buzan and Farias, as both the teacher and the student benefit, since the technique of mental maps makes a complex content into something easier to assimilate. The introduction complex Astronomy topics in the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC) reveled several problems regarding the preparation od teachers and the nature of the infrequent teaching materials in Portuguese. In this context, to minimize these problems, a didactic proposal was made using mental maps, presenting the central role of space missions for the study of binary stars, with emphasis on the CoRot and Kepler missions, because they most detected binary stars. Studies in this sense are relevant to produce materials for the area of Astronomy. For this, it is necessary to reach teachers and students. Teachers, class tools are provided through content construction and content availability for use in classrooms; students, as new candidates, can be known with solid scientific bases.
