Anthropic actions and the emergence of pandemics: what is the role of environmental engineering in this context?

Resumo: This research aimed to investigate the relationships that exist between human actions and the emergence of new diseases. In addition, discuss what actions, carried out mainly by Environmental Engineers, that can be performed in the face of this problem. For that, it focused on two environmental problems: handling of wild animals and deforestation. The study was of a theoretical character, having as methodology the reading and analysis of published works on the treated themes, in an attempt to articulate with the emergence of Sars-Cov-2. As a result, it was observed that environmental impacts caused by anthropic action are closely related to the emergence and spread of diseases. As an example, Covid-19 stands out, which may have arisen due to non-compliance with biosafety standards in the Wuhan market, in China. It was concluded that if the ways in which we have interacted with nature are not rethought, there is the possibility of new pandemics emerging. In this way, the role of professionals, such as environmental engineers, to mitigate environmental impacts and, consequently, new disease outbreaks, becomes essential.

Además, discuta qué acciones, llevadas a cabo principalmente por ingenieros ambientales, se pueden realizar ante este problema. Para eso, se enfocó en dos problemas ambientales: manejo de animales salvajes y deforestación. El estudio fue de naturaleza teórica, teniendo como metodología la lectura y el análisis de trabajos publicados sobre los temas tratados, en un intento de articular con la aparición de Sars-Cov-2. Como resultado, se observó que los impactos ambientales causados ​​por la acción antrópica están estrechamente relacionados con la aparición y propagación de enfermedades. Como ejemplo, se destaca Covid-19, que puede haber surgido debido al incumplimiento de las normas de bioseguridad en el mercado de Wuhan, en China. Se concluyó que si no se repensan las formas en que hemos interactuado con la naturaleza, existe la posibilidad de que surjan nuevas pandemias. De esta manera, el papel de los profesionales, como los ingenieros ambientales, para mitigar los impactos ambientales y, en consecuencia, nuevos brotes de enfermedades, se vuelve esencial.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar as relações que existem entre ações antrópicas e o surgimento de novas doenças. Além disso, discutir que ações, executadas principalmente por Engenheiros Ambientais, podem ser realizadas frente a essa problemática. Para isso, focou em dois problemas ambientais: manuseio de animais silvestres e desmatamento. O estudo foi de caráter teórico, tendo como metodologia a leitura e análise de trabalhos publicados sobre os temas tratados, na tentativa de articular com o surgimento do Sars-Cov-2. Como resultado, foi observado que impactos ambientais causados por ação antrópica possuem estreita relação com o surgimento e a propagação de doenças. A exemplo disso, destaca-se a Covid-19  que pode ter surgido pelo não cumprimento das normas de biossegurança no mercado de Wuhan, na China. Concluiu-se que caso não se repensem as formas como temos interagido com a natureza, há a possibilidade de emergir novas pandemias.
