Impacts on biogas generation from dairy cattle residues

Resumo: | Brazil is among the largest dairy cattle producers in the world. In confined systems, the disposal of waste from the production process needs specific locations that respect environmental legislation, and, when deposited incorrectly, generate environmental impacts. Due to its composition, the waste generated can be used through stabilization processes, for the production of organic fertilizer and for the generation of energy as sustainable alternatives. The present work aimed to identify the environmental impacts in the energy production chain by biogas. A case study was carried out based on a dairy cattle breeding facility that uses its residues to produce biogas and organic fertilizer. Based on the information and using a bibliographic review, it was possible to make notes on the possible impacts generated in the production of sustainable energy, such as atmospheric pollution from the burning of biogas. It was concluded that, although they can have environmental impacts, the use of biodigesters for waste treatment and biogas generation reduces the polluting potential that the waste has. |

En los sistemas confinados, la disposición de los residuos del proceso productivo necesita lugares específicos que respeten la legislación ambiental y, cuando se depositan incorrectamente, generan impactos ambientales. Por su composición, los residuos generados pueden ser aprovechados mediante procesos de estabilización, para la producción de abono orgánico y para la generación de energía como alternativas sustentables. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo identificar los impactos ambientales en la cadena de producción de energía por biogás. Se realizó un estudio de caso basado en una instalación de cría de ganado lechero que aprovecha sus residuos para producir biogás y abono orgánico. Con base en la información y haciendo uso de una revisión bibliográfica, fue posible realizar apuntes sobre los posibles impactos generados en la producción de energía sustentable, como la contaminación atmosférica por la quema de biogás. Se concluyó que, si bien pueden tener impactos ambientales, el uso de biodigestores para el tratamiento de residuos y la generación de biogás reduce el potencial contaminante que tienen los residuos.O Brasil está entre os maiores produtores de gado leiteiro do mundo. Em sistemas confinados, a destinação dos dejetos oriundos do processo produtivo necessita de locais específicos que respeitem a legislação ambiental, e, quando depositados de modo incorreto geram impactos ambientais. Devido à sua composição, os resíduos gerados podem ser aproveitados por meio de processos de estabilização, para produção de adubo orgânico e para a geração de energia como alternativas sustentáveis. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo identificar os impactos ambientais na cadeia de produção de energia por biogás. Realizou-se o estudo de caso baseado em uma instalação de criação de bovinocultura leiteira que aproveita seus resíduos para produção de biogás e adubo orgânico. Com base nas informações e utilizando de uma revisão bibliográfica, foi possível realizar apontamentos dos possíveis impactos gerados na produção de energia sustentável, como poluição atmosférica pela queima do biogás.
