Resumo: This study aimed to investigate the perception of the residents of Vila Amélia neighborhood about the environmental impacts from the activity in the region as well as perform through an array of environmental impact assessment. The investigation was guided in the comparison between results obtained by applying of a survey with the residents of the neighborhood and the ones obtained in the application of Leopold matrix adapted. The results presented by Leopold matrix doesn’t faithfully represent the reality of the effects of the impacts experienced by residents of the neighborhood, since the comparison between the matrix and the survey results was convergence only for the biotic environment, having noticed divergence to the physical environment and socioeconomic , which puts in doubt the efficiency using only the matrix..

La investigación se basó en la comparación entre los resultados obtenidos por medio de aplicación de un cuestionario junto a los habitantes del barrio y los obtenidos en la aplicación de una matriz de Leopold adaptada. Los resultados presentados por la matriz no representan fielmente la realidad de los efectos de los impactos vivenciados por los moradores del barrio, ya que hubo convergencia sólo para medio biótico, constatándose divergencia para los medios físico y socioeconómico. Este hecho pone en duda la eficiencia del uso solamente de la matriz, cuando de la evaluación de impactos ambientales en ese tipo de actividad.O presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar a percepção dos moradores do bairro Vila Amélia sobre os impactos ambientais oriundos da atividade de mineração na região, bem como realizar, por meio de uma matriz de avaliação de impactos ambientais, a análise da magnitude e importância desses impactos. A investigação pautou-se na comparação entre os resultados obtidos por meio de aplicação de um questionário junto aos moradores do bairro e os obtidos na aplicação de uma matriz de Leopold adaptada. Os resultados apresentados pela matriz não representam fielmente a realidade dos efeitos dos impactos vivenciados pelos moradores do bairro, já que houve convergência apenas para meio biótico, constatando-se divergência para os meios físico e socioeconômico.
