Perspectives of patients on pharmacotherapeutic follow-up in Primary Health Care in a Brazilian capital

Resumo: The pharmaceutical profession has become in the last decades, from a technicist training to a person-centered care. The clinical performance of the pharmacist in Primary Health Care is still incipient and seeks to consolidate by providing pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, whose objective is to identify, prevent and solve drug-related problems. Aiming to know the user's perception regarding pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, a case study qualitative, descriptive interpretative was carried out between January and March of 2017. Twelve users in pharmacotherapeutic follow-up were interviewed individually. From the content analysis emerged two categories: Pharmaceutical-patient relationship and its importance in pharmacotherapy and Positive results in pharmacotherapy result in patient satisfaction. A relationship of trust and co-responsibility between the pharmacist-patient was evidenced. The patient sees the pharmacist as guiding and encouraging in the treatment process, as he considers the individual fully and as the main actor in making decisions about his treatment and health. Users were satisfied with pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, desiring their continuity.

La actuación clínica del farmacéutico em la Atención Primaria a la Salud es aún incipiente y busca consolidarse proporcionando el seguimiento farmacoterapéutico, cuyo objetivo es identificar, prevenir y resolver problemas relacionados a los medicamentos. Con el objetivo de conocer las experiencias de los usuarios en relación al seguimiento farmacoterapéutico, fue desarrollado un estudio de caso cualitativo, descriptivo interpretativo realizado entre enero y marzo de 2017. Doce usuarios en seguimiento farmacoterapéutico han sido entrevistados individualmente. Del análisis de contenido han emergido dos categorías: La importancia de la relación farmacéutico-paciente en la farmacoterapia y Resultados positivos en la farmacoterapia resultan en satisfacción de los pacientes. Se evidenció una relación de confianza y corresponsabilidad entre el farmacéutico y el paciente. El paciente ve a lo farmacéutico como asesor y animador en el proceso de tratamiento, ya que considera al individuo como un todo y como actor principal en la toma de decisiones sobre su tratamiento y salud. Los usuarios se han mostrado satisfechos con el seguimiento farmacoterapéutico, deseando su continuidad.A profissão farmacêutica transformou-se nas últimas décadas, de uma formação tecnicista à voltada ao cuidado centrado na pessoa. A atuação clínica do farmacêutico na Atenção Primária à Saúde é ainda incipiente e busca consolidar-se pela prestação do acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico, cujo objetivo é identificar, prevenir e resolver problemas relacionados aos medicamentos. Objetivando conhecer as experiências dos usuários em relação ao acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico, foi desenvolvido um estudo de caso qualitativo, descritivo interpretativo realizado entre janeiro e março de 2017. Doze usuários em acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico foram entrevistados individualmente. Da análise de conteúdo emergiram duas categorias: A importância da relação farmacêutico-paciente na farmacoterapia e Resultados positivos na farmacoterapia resultam em satisfação dos pacientes. Evidenciou-se uma relação de confiança e corresponsabilidade entre farmacêutico-paciente. O paciente vê o farmacêutico como orientador e incentivador no processo do tratamento, pois considera o indivíduo de forma integral e como ator principal na tomada de decisões sobre seu tratamento e saúde. Os usuários demonstraram-se satisfeitos em relação ao acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico, desejando sua continuidade.
