Resumo: | This work aims to bring reflections on the understanding of Environmental Education (EE) that is offered in “Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA)” program. Through bibliographic studies, we seek to comprehend concepts and questions involved in EE and analyze present conceptions in documents that guide EJA’s curriculum. The article brings a brief timeline about Environmental Education in Brazil in order to comprehend the change of conception through the years, as well as reflections in the educational context, especially in EJA. Analyzes, also, the concept of sustainability and how the educational practices can contribute to effectuate it’s realization. |

A través de los estudios bibliográficos, buscamos comprender los conceptos y problemas relacionados con la EA y analizar los conceptos presentes en los documentos que guían el plan de estudios de EJA. El artículo trae una breve línea de tiempo sobre Educación Ambiental en Brasil para comprender el cambio en su concepción a través de los años, así como sus reflejos en el contexto educativo brasileño, especialmente en EJA. También analiza el concepto de sostenibilidad y cómo las prácticas educativas pueden contribuir a hacerla realidad.O estudo tem como objetivo trazer reflexões sobre o entendimento da Educação Ambiental (EA), que é oferecida nas classes de Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA). Através de estudos bibliográficos, buscou-se compreender conceitos e questões envolvidas na EA, e analisar as concepções presentes nos documentos que orientam o currículo da EJA. O estudo traz uma breve linha de tempo sobre a Educação Ambiental no Brasil, a fim de compreender a mudança de sua concepção através dos anos, bem como, seus reflexos no contexto educacional brasileiro, especialmente na EJA. Analisa, também, o conceito de sustentabilidade, e como as práticas educativas podem contribuir para efetivar sua realização.
