Study on the ethical education of psychology students

Resumo: Ethics analyzes the moral problems that affect the well-being and quality of life of humans and non-humans and their environments. To this end, it seeks to reflect on values and guiding principles of human life and professional practices. The present work aimed to understand the process of ethical training of psychology students at a public college in the state of Rio de Janeiro. To this propose, we conducted individual interviews, with a semi-structured script, with thirty students completing the Psychology course (from the eighth to the eleventh period). We analyzed the data according to Bardin's content analysis proposal. Most of the interviewees considered that to be ethical in the professional practice means “to respect the other”. The most recurrent response explaining the values that the interviewees consider essential for their professional activity was “listening / welcoming attitude without prior judgments”. Finally, we argue that ethical training should permeate the academic and professional training of the psychology student, preferably also in a transversal way, and be promoting the debate between teachers, students and society.

Con este fin, busca reflexionar sobre valores y principios rectores de la vida humana y las prácticas profesionales. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue comprender el proceso de capacitación ética de los estudiantes de psicología en una universidad pública en el estado de Río de Janeiro. Con este fin, realizamos entrevistas individuales, con un guión semiestructurado, con treinta estudiantes que completaron el curso de Psicología (del octavo al undécimo período del curso). Los datos se analizaron de acuerdo con la propuesta de análisis de contenido de Bardin. La mayoría de los entrevistados considera que ser ético en la práctica profesional del psicólogo es "respetar al otro". En cuanto a los valores que los entrevistados consideran importantes para su actividad profesional, la respuesta más recurrente fue “actitud de escucha / bienvenida sin juicios previos”. Finalmente, se argumenta que la formación ética debe impregnar la formación académica y profesional del estudiante de psicología, preferiblemente también de manera transversal, y debe promoverse en el debate entre docentes, estudiantes y la sociedad.A ética se propõe a analisar os problemas morais que afetam o bem-estar e a qualidade de vida de humanos e não-humanos e seus ambientes. Para tal, busca refletir sobre valores e princípios norteadores da vida humana e das práticas profissionais. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi compreender o processo de formação ética de estudantes de psicologia de uma faculdade pública no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Para tal, realizamos entrevistas individuais, com um roteiro semiestruturado, com trinta alunos concluintes do curso de Psicologia (do oitavo ao décimo primeiro período do curso). Os dados foram analisados de acordo com a proposta de análise de conteúdo de Bardin. A maioria dos entrevistados considerou que ser ético no exercício profissional do psicólogo é “respeitar o outro”. Quanto aos valores que os entrevistados consideram importantes para a atividade profissional, a resposta mais recorrente foi “atitude de escuta / acolher sem julgamentos prévios”.
