Resumo: Introduction: To identify the main health surveillance actions, with regard public’s policies development, to prevent pandemic’s advance since it’s arrival in Brazil, highlighting progression in State of Pernambuco. DEVELOPMENT: This is a bibliographic research which was used the following database: SciELO, Academic Google, BVS and CAPES to compile articles on the topic explored. As an inclusion criterion, brazilians surveys, published between 2017 and 2021, that addressed the action mechanisms of health surveillance and implementation’s in public health policies were prioritized. Thus it was evident that health surveillance actions initiated before the pandemic reached Brazil, with the main actions being the collection of information and the publication of Epidemiological Bulletins and Technical Notes in order to prepare “SUS” management’s for possible patients. The implementation and updating of tools for recording suspected cases assisted health professionals on their work and made it possible to provide information on cases, fake news and other transparency data. Conclusion: Despite the late implementation of security measures, health surveillance from Pernambuco played an important role in planning, conducting, organizing, inspecting, monitoring, containing damage and protecting the population’s health. The registered data also subsidize the actions and public’s policies elaboration for inspection action, guaranteeing the obligatory fulfillment recommendations of preventive measures.
