The role of the nurse in assisting women victims of sexual violence in Brazil

Resumo: This study aimed to describe the role of the nurse in assisting women victims of sexual violence in Brazil. This was an integrative literature review carried out through virtual library searches: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS) y Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Original articles published from 2012 onwards were included. The results indicate that sexual violence against women in Brazil is more prevalent in young women. Evidence shows that the nursing professionals felt incapable to carry out the reception, the approach and the care provision of the victims. At times nurses did not properly follow the specific protocols of care, resulting in failure in the referral of cases. As part of the multiprofessional health team, nurses play a leading role in the care of women victims of violence and, therefore, they must be adequately trained. Professional qualification is essential in the face of this assistance that results in effective nursing care that actually responds to the needs of victims, guaranteeing humanization and safety during care.

Se trata de una revisión integrativa de la literatura realizada en las bibliotecas virtuales: Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS y, Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Se incluyeron artículos originales publicados a partir de 2012. Los resultados indican que la violencia sexual contra la mujer en Brasil es más prevalente en mujeres jóvenes. Se evidenció que los profesionales de enfermería se sienten incapaces de realizar la recepción, el abordaje y la atención a las víctimas. En ocasiones, no siguen adecuadamente los protocolos específicos de atención, con fallas en la derivación de los casos. La enfermería, como parte del equipo multiprofesional de salud, juega un papel protagónico en el cuidado de las mujeres víctimas de violencia y, para eso, deben estar preparadas. Queda explícita la esencialidad de la calificación profesional frente a esa asistencia para hacer efectivo el cuidado de enfermería que, de hecho, responda a las necesidades de las víctimas, garantice la humanización y la seguridad en el cuidado.Esse estudo pretendeu descrever o papel do enfermeiro na assistência à mulher vítima de violência sexual no Brasil. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura realizada nas bibliotecas virtuais: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS) e Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Foram incluídos artigos originais publicados a partir do ano de 2012. Os resultados apontam que a violência sexual contra a mulher no Brasil é mais prevalente em mulheres jovens. Evidenciou-se que os profissionais de enfermagem se sentem incapacitados para a realização do acolhimento, da abordagem e a prestação do cuidado às vítimas. Por vezes, não seguem adequadamente os protocolos específicos de atendimento, havendo falhas no encaminhamento dos casos. A enfermagem, como parte da equipe multiprofissional de saúde, apresenta um papel de protagonista no cuidado à mulher vítima de violência e, para tal, deve estar preparada.
