Prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections with teenagers in oncological treatment

Resumo: It is known that medicines used during cancer treatment can have harmful effects during pregnancy, both for the mother and the baby. The present paper aims to raise the needs of information on pregnancy prevention and Sexually Transmitted Infections during cancer treatment of adolescents in a large hospital in the central region of state Rio Grande do Sul. This is qualitative approach research, of character descriptive and exploratory, conducted in the period of September and October 2019. Eleven health professionals who worked in the hemato-oncologic sector participated in the study. It was observed in the study that information on sexuality, adolescent pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections practically do not occur because health professionals are focused on cancer treatment of these adolescents. Therefore, it is necessary that the topic be addressed avoiding complications to the health of this teenager, both physical and emotional.

Este documento tiene como objetivo aumentar la necesidad de información sobre la prevención del embarazo y las infecciones de transmisión sexual durante el tratamiento del cáncer de adolescentes en un gran hospital en el centro de Rio Grande do Sul. Este es un enfoque de investigación cualitativa. Siendo un estudio descriptivo y exploratorio realizado en septiembre y octubre de 2019. Once profesionales de la salud que trabajaban en el sector de sangre-oncológica participaron en el estudio. El estudio encontró que la información sobre sexualidad, embarazo adolescente e infecciones de transmisión sexual es prácticamente inexistente porque los profesionales de la salud se centran en el tratamiento del cáncer de estos adolescentes. Por lo tanto, es necesario abordar el tema evitando complicaciones para la salud de estos pacientes, tanto físicos como emocionales.Sabe-se que os medicamentos utilizados durante o tratamento oncológico podem ter efeitos danosos durante a gravidez, tanto para a mãe quanto para o bebê. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo levantar as necessidades de informações sobre prevenção da gravidez e Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis, durante o tratamento oncológico de adolescentes em hospital de grande porte da região central do Rio Grande do Sul. Trata-se de pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, de carácter descritivo e exploratório, realizada no período de setembro e outubro de 2019. Participaram do estudo onze profissionais de saúde que atuavam no setor hemato-oncológico. Observou-se, no estudo, que as informações sobre sexualidade, gravidez na adolescência e Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis, praticamente não ocorrem devido os profissionais de saúde estarem centrados no tratamento do câncer desses adolescentes.
