Mathematics questions in tests of admission to the Polytechnic College of Federal University of Santa Maria (2015-2020): an analysis based on two records of semiotic representation

Resumo: This research aims to analyze Mathematics questions in selection tests for entry to High School at the Polytechnic College of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in the period from 2015 to 2020, according to the records of semiotic representation and the principles of the qualitative approach, of bibliographic nature, following the assumptions of Content Analysis. For this, three categories of analysis are considered: Concepts/contents involved, Contextualization and Records of semiotic representation mobilized and transformations of treatment and conversion. Among the results, it is identified that the concepts of arithmetic and algebra, as well as the area of flat figures, are the most discussed; it appears that most of the questions do not contain contextualization, those that do are related, in a more expressive way, to social practices, but also to mathematics itself, history or other disciplines. In addition, there is a variety of representation records that need to be mobilized to resolve issues and that most require cognitive conversion transformations to resolve them.

In addition, there is a variety of representation records that need to be mobilized to resolve issues and that most require cognitive conversion transformations to resolve them.Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las cuestiones de Matemáticas en las pruebas de selección para el ingreso al Bachillerato en el Colegio Politécnico de la Universidad Federal de Santa María (UFSM), en el período de 2015 a 2020, de acuerdo con los registros de representación semiótica y los principios del enfoque cualitativo, de carácter bibliográfico, siguiendo los supuestos del Análisis de Contenido. Para ello, se consideran tres categorías de análisis: Conceptos/contenidos involucrados, Contextualización y Registros de representacion semióticas movilizadas y transformaciones de tratamiento y conversión. Entre los resultados, se identifica que los conceptos de aritmética y álgebra, así como el área de figuras planas, son los más discutidos; parece que la mayoría de las cuestiones no contienen contextualización, las que sí se relacionan, de manera más expresiva, con las prácticas sociales, pero también con la matemática misma, la historia u otras disciplinas. Además, existe una variedad de registros de representación que deben movilizarse para resolver problemas y que la mayoría requieren transformaciones de conversión cognitiva para resolverlos.Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar questões de Matemática em provas de seleção para ingresso no Ensino Médio do Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), no período de 2015 a 2020, conforme os registros de representação semiótica e os princípios da abordagem qualitativa, de cunho bibliográfico, seguindo os pressupostos da Análise de Conteúdo. Para tanto, consideram-se três categorias de análise: Conceitos/conteúdos envolvidos, Contextualização e Registros de representação semiótica mobilizados e transformações de tratamento e conversão. Dentre os resultados identifica-se que os conceitos de aritmética e álgebra, e também área de figuras planas são os mais abordados; constata-se que a maioria das questões não contém contextualização, aquelas que apresentam, estão relacionadas, de modo mais expressivo, com as práticas sociais, mas também, com a própria matemática, com a história ou com outras disciplinas.
