Women with Parkinson’s disease: perception research in fashion products with focus on Human Centered Design

Resumo: | There is a growing phenomenon in development in the society that revolves around the expansion of the elderly in Brazil, which should triple until at least the year 2050. Consequently, this leads to a series of industrial demands that must bubble up and emerge in an environment that was not primarily suitable for this consuming public. In this perspective, it is necessary to adapt and produce artifacts, specifically discussing in this work, fashion products, which meet and enhance both this demand to come and how they are methodically prepared for the physiological, physical, and psychological specificities of these individuals. Inherent in aging, the process guides to a series of bodily complications that can lead to the intensification of diseases, among them, in this research, Parkinson's disease is the essence. Thus, the objective of this research is to understand the way that women affected by Parkinson's perceive their daily lives, as well as understand their values goals through the aesthetic, practical, and symbolic functions of fashion products. To this end, the research is classified as descriptive with a quantitative and qualitative approach. To achieve these ends, an interview based on the Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire - 39 was applied using an online tool with 40 women affected by Parkinson's, invited through Facebook groups. As a result, it was possible to conclude that the greatest difficulty faced is in removing the garments, therefore, practicality is valued at a higher average, and respondents indicated Velcro as the best replacement for the closures used in the industry. |

En consecuencia, esto lleva a una serie de demandas industriales que deben burbujear y surgir en un entorno eso no era principalmente adecuado para este público consumidor. En esta perspectiva, es necesario adaptar y producir artefactos, discutiendo específicamente en este trabajo, los productos de moda, que satisfacen y mejoran tanto esta demanda como la forma en que están metódicamente preparados para las especificidades fisiológicas, físicas y psicológicas de estos individuos. Inherente al envejecimiento, el proceso conduce a una serie de complicaciones corporales que pueden conducir a la intensificación de enfermedades, incluida la enfermedad de Parkinson, como la esencia de esta investigación. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este artículo es comprender la forma en que las mujeres afectadas por el Parkinson enfrentan su vida cotidiana, así como proyectar y comprender sus objetivos de valores a través de las funciones estéticas, prácticas y simbólicas de los productos de moda. Con este fin, la investigación se clasifica como descriptiva con un enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo. Para lograr estos objetivos, se aplicó una entrevista basada en el Cuestionario de la enfermedad de Parkinson 39 utilizando una herramienta en línea con 40 mujeres afectadas por el Parkinson, invitadas a través de grupos de Facebook. Como resultado, se concluyó que la mayor dificultad que se enfrenta es quitarse las prendas, por lo tanto, la practicidad se valora a un promedio más alto y los acometidos indicaron que el velcro es el mejor reemplazo para los cierres utilizados en la industria.Há um crescente fenômeno em desenvolvimento na sociedade que gira em torno da expansão da terceira idade no Brasil, devendo triplicar até pelo menos o ano de 2050. Com isso, consequentemente, acarreta em uma série de demandas industriais que deve borbulhar e despontar em um ambiente que não se encontrava propício primariamente a esse público consumidor. Nessa perspectiva, deve-se adaptar e produzir artefatos, especificamente discutindo nesse trabalho, os produtos de moda, que atenda e potencialize tanto essa demandar porvir, como sejam metodicamente preparados às especificidades fisiológicas, físicas e psicológicas desses indivíduos. Inerente ao envelhecer, o processo acarreta uma série de complicações corpóreas que podem levar à intensificação de doenças, dentre elas, recorta-se, nessa pesquisa, enquanto essência, a doença de Parkinson. Dessa maneira, o objetivo desse artigo é compreender a maneira que mulheres acometidas por Parkinson enfrentam o seu dia a dia, assim como projetam e entendem seus objetivos de valores através das funções estéticas, práticas e simbólicas de produtos de moda. Para tal, a pesquisa se classifica como descritiva de abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa. Para atingir esses fins, aplicou-se uma entrevista baseada no Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire – 39 usando uma ferramenta online com 40 mulheres acometidas por Parkinson, convidadas através de grupos do Facebook voltados ao Parkinson.
