Epidemiological profile of patients victims of traffic accidents with suspected traumatic brain injury in Cascavel, Paraná, Brazil

Resumo: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is considered one of the most important causes of hospitalization, sequelae and death in Brazil, proving to be a prevalent health problem, in view of the Community welfare. Among the most common causes attributed are traffic accidents. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the current epidemiological profile of patients who were victims of traffic accidents with suspected traumatic brain injury in the city of Cascavel, Paraná, Brazil. The files of 2863 patients from 08/01/2017 to 11/17/2021 were analyzed and it was possible to determine that the profile of these patients is composed of people between 19 and 59 years old involved in traffic accidents involving cars, mainly in the urban area. of the city and, for the most part, have clinical signs and injuries of minimal severity. It is concluded, then, that it is important to implement promising intervention measures, fundamentally focusing on Education and Health.

Entre las causas más comunes atribuidas están los accidentes de tránsito. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el perfil epidemiológico actual de los pacientes que fueron víctimas de accidentes de tráfico con sospecha de traumatismo craneoencefálico en la ciudad de Cascavel, Paraná, Brasil. Se analizaron los expedientes de 2863 pacientes del 01/08/2017 al 17/11/2021 y se pudo determinar que el perfil de estos pacientes está compuesto por personas entre 19 y 59 años involucradas en accidentes de tránsito involucrando automóviles, principalmente en áreas urbanas de la ciudad y, en su mayoría, presentan signos clínicos y lesiones de mínima gravedad. Se concluye, entonces, que es importante la implementación de medidas de intervención prometedoras, enfocadas fundamentalmente en Educación y Salud.O traumatismo cranioencefálico (TCE) é considerado uma das mais importantes causas de internamento, sequelas e morte no Brasil, se mostrando um problema de saúde prevalente, tendo em vista o bem comunitário da sociedade. Entre as causas mais comuns atribuídas estão os acidentes de trânsito. Sendo assim, este trabalho teve o objetivo de determinar o atual perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes vítimas de acidente de trânsito com suspeita de traumatismo cranioencefálico no município de Cascavel, Paraná, Brasil. Foram analisadas as fichas de 2863 pacientes entre o período de 01/08/2017 a 17/11/2021 e foi possível determinar que o perfil destes pacientes é composto por pessoas entre 19 e 59 anos envolvidas em acidentes de trânsito que englobam automóveis, principalmente na zona urbana da cidade e, em sua maioria, possuem sinais clínicos e lesões de gravidades mínimas.
