World Cup “Brazil 2014”: the political-ideological use of soccer in government advertisements

Resumo: The goal of the research was to analyze, through textual strategies, how the political-ideological use of football took place in advertisements of the federal government elaborated for the 2014 World Cup. For this, we used the guidelines of Textual Analysis based on Semiotics. The analysis showed that federal government used soccer for political-ideological purposes by reinforcing the feeling of patriotism, combating racism, the presence of intentions to promote acceptance of the World Cup in Brazil and, intertextual relations with the political platform of the Workers' Party, which at that time ruled the country and would run for reelection in 2014.

Para esto, utilizamos las pautas de Análisis Textual basado en Semiótica. El análisis mostró que el gobierno federal utilizó el fútbol con fines político-ideológicos al reforzar el sentimiento de patriotismo, combatir el racismo, la presencia de intenciones para promover la aceptación de la Copa del Mundo en Brasil y las relaciones intertextuales con el plataforma política del Partido de los Trabajadores, que en ese momento gobernaba el país y se postularía para la reelección en 2014.O objetivo da pesquisa foi analisar, por meio de estratégias textuais, como se deu o uso político-ideológico do futebol em propagandas do governo federal elaboradas para a Copa do Mundo de 2014. Para isso, utilizamos as orientações da Análise Textual baseada na Semiótica.
