Resumo: Systemic arterial hypertension has a high incidence and mortality in the world, being classified as a longitudinally progressive pandemic, and a factor in the development of renal and cardiovascular diseases, such as kidney failure and strokes. SAH can be primary or secondary, in which the primary is idiopathic, and the secondary originates from factors such as diabetes, obesity, among others. Thus, it is essential to carry out actions that promote healthier lifestyles in hypertensive patients. Thus, health education emerges, which allows populations to have greater autonomy in controlling their own health. This study aims to describe the importance of health education with hypertensive patients being monitored in the HIPERDIA program at a UBS. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the experience report type, from the perspective of nursing students' experiences during a health education action with hypertensive patients based on the steps of the Arco de Maguerez. As a result, it was noted that some of the users were withdrawn and shy, however, from the realization of the initial reception and the group activities performed, greater participation and interaction between the public and the team was noticed. It was found that the results of the action were positive, sensitizing the target audience, promoting self-care and the consolidation of knowledge within the scope of primary care. Therefore, the role of the academic in this type of educational action is emphasized, as it creates a holistic and humanized view, as well as skills and competences for themselves and the target audience, improving the quality of life of the latter.
