LGBT health and nursing curriculum: vision of future nurses

Resumo: Objective: to analyze the approach of the health issue of the LGBT population at a nursing college. Specific: to identify, in the course menus, the health theme of the LGBT population and describe, from the perspective of the undergraduate students, the approach of the theme in the classroom. Methodology: a mixed approach survey, using a form to analyze the syllabus of the curriculum subjects and, for the 29 undergraduate students from the last period of a public Nursing Faculty in the state of Rio de Janeiro, a questionnaire of sociodemographic issues was applied, and an interview was conducted half structured. Results: the analysis of the menus showed the presence of the theme in two mental health disciplines. The interviews demonstrated the superficial approach of the subject in the disciplines of child health, women's health and ethics, but without mention in their menus. It was found that the undergraduates valued the approach, pointing out that learning will favor the improvement of the current reality of lack of assistance in this population. Conclusion: the theme is approached superficially without a specific focus on the health of the LGBT population, even in the menus that contemplate the theme. In view of the above, it is suggested that the theme be assessed by the curricular commissions of the nursing faculties so that the subject can be approached transversally in the curriculum.

Específicos: identificar, en los menús del curso, el tema de salud de la población LGBT y describir, desde la perspectiva de los estudiantes de pregrado, el abordaje del tema en el aula. Metodología: encuesta de enfoque mixto, utilizando un formulario para analizar los programas de las asignaturas curriculares y, para los 29 estudiantes de pregrado del último período de una Facultad de Enfermería pública en el estado de Rio de Janeiro, se aplicó un cuestionario de aspectos sociodemográficos y se realizó una entrevista. medio estructurado. Resultados: el análisis de los menús mostró la presencia del tema en dos disciplinas de salud mental. Las entrevistas demostraron el abordaje superficial del tema en las disciplinas de salud infantil, salud de la mujer y ética, pero sin mención en sus menús. Se encontró que los estudiantes de pregrado valoraron el enfoque, señalando que el aprendizaje favorecerá la mejora de la realidad actual de desasistencia en esta población. Conclusión: el tema se aborda de forma superficial sin un enfoque específico en la salud de la población LGBT, incluso en los menús que contemplan el tema. En vista de lo anterior, se sugiere que el tema sea evaluado por las comisiones curriculares de las facultades de enfermería para que el tema pueda abordarse de manera transversal en el currículo.Objetivo: analisar a abordagem da temática saúde da população LGBT em uma faculdade de enfermagem. Específico: identificar, nas ementas das disciplinas, a temática saúde da população LGBT e descrever, na perspectiva das graduandas, a abordagem do tema em sala de aula. Metodologia: pesquisa de abordagem mista, utilizando formulário para análise das ementas das disciplinas do currículo e, para as 29 graduandas do último período de uma Faculdade de Enfermagem pública no estado do Rio de Janeiro, foram aplicados um questionário de questões sociodemográficas, e realizado entrevista semiestruturada. Resultados: a análise das ementas evidenciou a presença da temática em duas disciplinas de saúde mental. As entrevistas, demonstraram a abordagem superficial do assunto nas disciplinas de saúde da criança, saúde da mulher e ética, mas sem menção em suas ementas. Constatou-se que as graduandas valorizaram a abordagem, apontando que o aprendizado favorecerá a melhoria da realidade atual de desassistência dessa população. Conclusão: o tema é abordado superficialmente sem um enfoque específico da saúde da população LGBT, mesmo nas ementas que contemplam a temática.
