Resumo: The objective of this literature review was to address the qualitative characteristics of meat, chemical and morphological muscle fibers of the main myopathies (deep pectoral myopathy - MPP, white striping - WS, wooden breast -WB and spaghetti meat - SM) verified in the slaughter line broilers in recent years. The occurrence of these abnormalities in the breast muscle (Pectoralis major), coupled with the accelerated growth rate and high breast yield, is an emerging concern for the poultry industry and the demand for strategies that make the production system feasible to mitigate economic losses from convictions of the carcasses or from the rejection of consumers. Therefore, the main challenge is to reduce the occurrence of these muscle lesions but without harming the productive and qualitative indexes of the meat, considering that it is one of the main causes that decrease the quality of the breast meat with the potential to impact the choice of the final consumer.

La aparición de estas anormalidades en el músculo de la pechuga (pectoral mayor), junto con la tasa de crecimiento acelerado y el alto rendimiento de la pechuga, es una preocupación emergente para la industria avícola y la demanda de estrategias que hagan factible el sistema de producción para mitigar las pérdidas económicas. por convicciones de los cadáveres o por el rechazo de los consumidores. Por lo tanto, el desafío principal es reducir la aparición de estas lesiones musculares pero sin dañar los índices productivos y cualitativos de la carne, teniendo en cuenta que es una de las principales causas que disminuyen la calidad de la carne de pechuga con el potencial de afectar la elección del consumidor final.O objetivo desta revisão de literatura foi abordar as características qualitativas da carne, químicas e morfológica das fibras musculares das principais miopatias (miopatía peitoral profunda - MPP, white striping - WS, wooden breast -WB e spaghetti meat - SM) verificadas na linha de abate de frangos de corte nos últimos anos. A ocorrência dessas anormalidades no músculo do peito (Pectoralis major), atrelado com a taxa de crescimento acelerado e o alto rendimento de peito, é uma preocupação emergente para a industria avícola e demanda de estratégias que viabilizem o sistema de produção para amenizar as perdas econômicas provenientes das condenações das carcaças ou pela rejeição dos consumidores.
