The importance of humanized dental care in public health: Integrative literature review

Resumo: The need for humanized dental care is frequently discussed among dental professionals and health managers, as a more humanistic and interpersonal vision is seen as essential in care routines. Objective: This study aims to highlight the importance of humanized care in dentistry through an integrative literature review. Methodologies: This is an integrative literature review, using the SciElo, PubMed and BVS databases. The descriptors "care And dentistry And humanization" were used to carry out the research, which led to 55 studies from these databases. After screening, 14 studies were selected for this research. It can be seen that in routine clinical dentistry; situations repeatedly arise in which there is anxiety and fear of dental procedures. In this sense, practices such as effective communication and respect for the patient's individuality are strategies that reduce feelings of fear and anxiety, demystifying possible negative experiences and promoting patient health with the empathy needed to achieve the expected prospects.

Objetivo: Este estudio pretende destacar la importancia de la atención humanizada en odontología a través de una revisión bibliográfica integradora. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica integradora, utilizando las bases de datos SciElo, PubMed y BVS. Para realizar la investigación se utilizaron los descriptores "care And dentistry And humanisation", que condujeron a 55 estudios de estas bases de datos. Tras la criba, se seleccionaron 14 estudios para esta investigación. Se puede observar que, en la clínica odontológica rutinaria, surgen repetidamente situaciones de ansiedad y miedo a los procedimientos odontológicos. En este sentido, prácticas como la comunicación efectiva y el respeto a la individualidad del paciente son estrategias que reducen los sentimientos de miedo y ansiedad, desmitificando posibles experiencias negativas y promoviendo la salud del paciente con la empatía necesaria para alcanzar los resultados esperados.A necessidade de um atendimento odontológico humanizado é frequentemente discutida entre profissionais da área de Odontologia e gestores da saúde, pois uma visão mais humanística e interpessoal é vista como imprescindível nas rotinas de atendimento. Objetivo: O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de ressaltar a importância do atendimento humanizado na odontologia através de uma revisão integrativa de literatura. Metodologias: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, onde foram utilizadas as bases de dados SciElo, PubMed e BVS e, para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foram aplicados os descritores “atendimento And odontologia And humanização” que levaram a 55 estudos provenientes dessas bases de dados. Após triagem, 14 estudos foram selecionados para essa pesquisa. Percebe-se que na rotina clínica odontológica repetidamente ocorrem situações em que existem ansiedade e medo dos procedimentos odontológicos.
