Colored compomer properties - in vitro study

Resumo: Restorative treatment in pediatric dentistry requires a restorative material that has good mechanical properties and is easy to handle and use. Colored compomers for restoration of deciduous teeth are a form of motivation for children in dental treatment, helping them to accept treatment. The objective of this work was to evaluate the surface hardness, compressive and bond strengths of colored compomers. For this, specimens of colored twinky star flow compomers in blue and pink colors (n=15) and bulk fill flow resin were made. To evaluate the bond strength, specimens of colored compomers (twinky star flow in blue) and bulk fill flow resin with were made on bovine enamel (n=16). All were individually conditioned in distilled water for 72 hours in an oven at 37ºC. The values obtained were submitted to the Shapiro-Wilk, Levene tests and one-way analysis of variance. The significance level adopted in all analyzes was 5%. There was no statistically significant difference between the restorative materials in surface hardness, compressive and bond strengths. The pigmentation of the compomers does not interfere in values of surface hardness, compression and bond strength.

Los compómeros coloreados para restauración de dientes temporales son una forma de motivación para los niños en el tratamiento odontológico, ayudándoles a aceptar el tratamiento. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la dureza superficial, la resistencia a la compresión y la adherencia de compómeros coloreados. Para ello, se fabricaron especímenes de compómeros de flujo de estrella twinky coloreados en color azul y rosa (n=15) y resina de flujo de relleno en bloque. Para evaluar la fuerza de unión, se prepararon especímenes de compómeros coloreados (twinky star flow en azul) y resina bulk fill flow sobre esmalte bovino (n=16). Todos fueron acondicionados individualmente en água destilada durante 72 horas en estufa a 37ºC. Los valores obtenidos fueron sometidos a las pruebas de Shapiro-Wilk, Levene y análisis de varianza de una vía. El nivel de significación adoptado en todos los análisis fue del 5%. No hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los materiales de restauración en cuanto a la dureza de la superficie, la compresión y la fuerza de unión. La pigmentación de los compómeros no interfiere con los valores de dureza superficial, resistencia a la compresión y fuerza de unión.O tratamento restaurador na odontopediatria exige um material restaurador que tenha boas propriedades mecânicas, facilidade de manipulação e de uso. Os compômeros coloridos para restauração de dentes decíduos é uma forma de motivação para as crianças no tratamento odontológico, contribuindo para que aceitem o tratamento. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a dureza de superfície, as resistências a compressão e de união de compômeros coloridos. Para isto, foram confeccionados, corpos de prova de compômeros coloridos twinky star flow nas cores cor azul e rosa (n=15), e resina bulk fill flow. Para a avaliação da resistência de união, os corpos de prova de compômeros coloridos (twinky star flow na cor azul) e resina bulk fill flow com foram confeccionados sobre esmalte bovino (n=16). Todos foram acondicionados individualmente em água destilada por 72 horas, em estufa a 37ºC. Os valores obtidos foram submetidos aos testes Shapiro-Wilk, Levene e análise de variância de um fator. O nível de significância adotado em todas as análises foi de 5%. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os materiais restauradores na dureza de superfície, nas resistências a compressão e de união.
