Energy Production and Utilization in the Context of Tocantins Agribusiness: An Approach Based on Science, Technology and Society Relations for Technical High School

Resumo: This paper aims to investigate the articulation between the concept of energy and social and environmental issues within the context of agribusiness in the state of Tocantins, belonging to the Brazilian Midwest region, with emphasis on Science, Technology and Society (CTS) relations, supported by a set of didactic and pedagogical interventions. The research subjects were students of the 3rd year of High School Integrated to Technical Education in Administration and Agribusiness of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins (IFTO) - Campus Palmas. Teaching strategies such as reading and discussion of texts, presentation of videos and PowerPoint, experimental activities in the laboratory, and technical visit to a solar plant belonging to the institution were used. As a result of this research, we found that despite the challenges inherent in the CTS approach, it can offer a better-quality education, integrated and close to the reality and expectation of students, allowing us to understand that learning in physics goes far beyond its basic contents. The proposal enabled students to adopt a more critical, reflective stance and the development of values and attitudes related to social and environmental issues, as well as a commitment to learning for life and the exercise of citizenship.

Los sujetos de investigación fueron estudiantes del tercer año de la Escuela Secundaria Integrada a la Educación Técnica en Administración y Agronegocios del Instituto Federal de Educación, Ciencia y Tecnología de Tocantins (IFTO) - Campus Palmas. Se utilizaron estrategias de enseñanza como lectura y discusión de textos, presentación de videos y PowerPoint, actividades experimentales de laboratorio y visita técnica a una planta solar perteneciente a la institución. Como resultado de esta investigación, descubrimos que a pesar de los desafíos inherentes al enfoque CTS, puede ofrecer una educación de mejor calidad, integrada y cercana a la realidad y las expectativas de los estudiantes, lo que nos permite comprender que el aprendizaje en física va mucho más allá de sus contenidos básicos. La propuesta permitió a los estudiantes adoptar una postura más crítica y reflexiva y el desarrollo de valores y actitudes relacionados con cuestiones sociales y ambientales, así como un compromiso con el aprendizaje para la vida y el ejercicio de la ciudadanía.Este trabalho tem por objetivo investigar a articulação entre o conceito de energia e questões sociais e ambientais dentro do contexto do agronegócio no estado do Tocantins, pertencente à região centro-oeste brasileira, com ênfase nas relações Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS), amparadas em um conjunto de intervenções didáticas e pedagógicas. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram estudantes do 3º ano do Ensino Médio Integrado ao Ensino Técnico em Administração e em Agronegócio do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Tocantins (IFTO) – Campus Palmas. Foram utilizadas estratégias de ensino como leitura e discussão de textos, apresentação de vídeos e PowerPoint, atividades experimentais em laboratório, além de visita técnica à uma usina solar pertencente à própria instituição. Como resultados dessa investigação, verificamos que apesar dos desafios inerentes à abordagem CTS, a mesma pode oferecer uma educação de melhor qualidade, integrada e próxima à realidade e expectativa dos alunos, permitindo compreender que a aprendizagem em Física vai muito além de seus conteúdos básicos.
