School dropout in high school: a scientometrics analysis

Resumo: | The study aimed to identify and analyze, from a scientometric analysis, the academic productions related to school dropout in high school available on the website of the libraries of the five Federal Universities of RS, exploring in the search field, the thesis bank, dissertations and monographs available online and linked to the respective graduate programs based on the terms “dropout from Integrated High School”, “dropout form High School” and “dropout from school”. 193 publications were found, of which 11 monographs and four dissertations were selected according to the analytical matrix built for this investigation. The analysis considered the research objectives, methodologies, causes and solutions to avoid school dropout. It was identified that the most decisive causes for school dropout are low interest and study/work ratio; while the alternatives to reduce dropout are related to greater community participation and curricular adequacy. It is concluded that school dropout is multifactorial, pointing out the need to review the list of causes, their consequences and preventive actions. Thus, there is a lack of studies that can point to ways and alternatives to combat school drop-out based on scientific bases linked to graduate programs at Federal Universities in RS. |

Thus, there is a lack of studies that can point to ways and alternatives to combat school drop-out based on scientific bases linked to graduate programs at Federal Universities in RS.El studio tuvo como objetivo identificar y analizar, a partir de un análisis cienciométrico, las producciones académicas relacionadas com el abandono escolar en el bachillerato disponibles em el sitio web de las bibliotecas de las cinco Universidades Federales de RS, explorando em el campo de búsqueda, el banco de tesis, disertaciones y monografias disponibles em línea y vinculadas a los respectivos programas de posgrado basados em los términos “abandono de la escuela secubdaria integrada”, “abandono de la esciela secundaria” y “ abandono de la escuela”. Se encontraron 193 publicaciones, de las ciales se selecionaron 11 monografias y cuatro disertaciones según la matriz analítica construída para esta investigación. El análisis considero los objetivos de investigación, metodologias, causas y soluciones para evitar la deserción escolar. Se identifico que las causas más determinantes de la deserción escolar son el bajo interés y la relación estúdio/trabajo; mientras que las alternativas para reducir la deserción se relacionan com uma mayor participación comunitária y adecuación curricular. Se concluye que la deserción escolar es multifactorial, señalando la necessidad de revisar la lista de causas, sus consecuencias y acciones preventivas. Por lo tanto, faltan estúdios que puedan señaçar vías y alternativas para comabtir la deserción escolar com base em bases científicas vinculadas a los programas de posgrado em las Universidades Federales de RS.O estudo teve como objetivo identificar e analisar, a partir de uma análise cienciométrica, as produções acadêmicas relacionadas à evasão escolar no Ensino Médio disponíveis no site das bibliotecas das cinco Universidades Federais do RS, explorando no campo de buscas, o banco de teses, dissertações e monografias disponíveis on-line e vinculadas aos respectivos programas de pós-graduação a partir dos termos “evasão no Ensino Médio Integrado”, “evasão no Ensino Médio” e “evasão escolar”. Foram encontradas 193 publicações, das quais seleciona 11 monografias e quatro dissertações conforme matriz analítica construída para esta investigação. A análise considerou os objetivos das pesquisas, metodologias, causas e soluções para evitar a evasão escolar. Identificou-se que as causas mais decisivas para o abandono escolar são o baixo interesse e relação estudo/trabalho; enquanto que as alternativas para diminuir a evasão relacionam-se a maior participação da comunidade e adequação curricular. Conclui-se que a evasão escolar é multifatorial, apontando a necessidade em rever a relação das causas, suas consequências e as ações de prevenção.
