A systematic review about the contribution of cooperatives to the sustainability of family-based agriculture

Resumo: Family-based agriculture is essential for the economic and social development of society. Cooperatives are organizations that act directly to promote this development process, whether local, regional or national. This study aims to analyze the contribution of cooperatives to the sustainability of family-based agriculture. For this purpose, a systematic review research was carried out, using the Web Of Science database. Fourteen scientific articles compose this review. Cooperation can be seen as an effective way to organize sustainable rural development in a structurally way, and family-based agriculture is the main actor in this process. Thus, cooperatives contribute as institutions of strategic actions in the survival of family-based agriculture, organizing, mobilizing and expanding possibilities and opportunities, prioritizing strategies aimed at rural family development and sustainability. Results permeate between four main topics in the analyzed articles, namely: farmers' perception, cooperative practices, quality of life and management and satisfaction’s degree. It was also possible to perceive essential issues in the context of the insertion of the family farmer to the cooperative, generating more income, stability, security and prosperity on their properties, with the cooperative being seen as a way to promote the contribution in the boost of processes, social organization, management and economic information, as well as sustainable development.

Las cooperativas son organizaciones que actúan directamente para impulsar este proceso de desarrollo, ya sea local, regional o nacional. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar la contribución de las cooperativas a la sostenibilidad de la agricultura familiar. Para ello, se realizó una investigación de revisión sistemática, utilizando la base de datos Web Of Science. Catorce artículos científicos componen esta revisión. La cooperación puede ser vista como una forma efectiva de organizar el desarrollo rural sostenible de manera estructural, y la agricultura familiar es el actor principal en este proceso. Así, las cooperativas contribuyen a la institucionalidad de acciones estratégicas en la supervivencia de la agricultura familiar, organizando, movilizando y ampliando posibilidades y oportunidades, priorizando estrategias orientadas al desarrollo y sostenibilidad de la familia rural. Los resultados permean entre cuatro temas principales en los artículos analizados, a saber: la percepción de los agricultores, las prácticas cooperativas, la calidad de vida y la gestión y el grado de satisfacción. También fue posible percibir cuestiones esenciales en el contexto de la inserción del agricultor familiar a la cooperativa, generando más ingresos, estabilidad, seguridad y prosperidad en sus propiedades, siendo vista la cooperativa como una forma de promover la contribución en el impulso. de los procesos, la organización social, la gestión y la información económica, así como el desarrollo sostenible.A agricultura familiar é fundamental para o desenvolvimento econômico e social da sociedade. As cooperativas são organizações que atuam diretamente no fomento deste processo de desenvolvimento, sendo ele, local, regional ou nacional. O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a contribuição das cooperativas para a sustentabilidade da agricultura familiar. Para tanto, foi realizado uma pesquisa de revisão sistemática, usando a base de dados Web Of Science. Integram esta revisão 14 artigos científicos. A cooperação pode ser observada como uma forma eficaz de organizar estruturalmente o desenvolvimento rural sustentável, e a agricultura familiar é o ator primordial deste processo. Logo, as cooperativas contribuem como instituições de ações estratégicas na sobrevivência da agricultura familiar, organizando, mobilizando e ampliando as possibilidades e oportunidades, priorizando estratégias voltadas ao desenvolvimento e à sustentabilidade familiar rural. Os resultados permeiam entre quatro focos principais nos artigos analisados, sendo eles: percepção dos agricultores, práticas cooperativistas, qualidade de vida e gestão e grau de satisfação.
