The Science textbook: an analysis of the relationship between mangrove ecosystem content and the STSE approach

Resumo: | The Didactic Book (LD) is an important resource to corroborate the transcription of the scientific message to the educational one. However, the teacher must pay attention to understand his locus of action and assume his responsibility as an educator in the analysis of this material. That said, and due to the importance of Scientific Literacy, we seek to analyze how issues related to science and its interaction with technology, society and environment (STSE) are presented in the Science Textbook on the theme of mangrove ecosystem. Thus, we conducted a bibliographic study with a qualitative research bias. As methodological procedures, we adapted the methodology of Vasconcelos & Souto (2003) who organized in their study some categories that allowed us to list the information about the theoretical, complementary content and visual resources of the 7th year of Science LD. As a result, we noticed that the LD presented a good synthesis of the content under study, starting to relate it to the socio-environmental problems caused by the misuse of science and technology. The text was clearly presented and its definitions presented important information containing evidence of the STSE approach. However, some adjustments can be made in the next editions so that you can better discuss and consequently facilitate the involvement of students in classroom debates. Thus, the LD under study was evaluated as good, when we look at the mangrove issue. |

Pero, sin embargo, el docente tiene que tenerciencia de su importancia y responsabilidad en la análisis y elección de los libros. Visto que, la AlfabetizaciónCientífica es muy importante, nosotros analizamos como están puestas las cuestiones que hacen la integraciónentre ciencias, tecnología, ambiente y sociedad en un libro de Ciencias, acerca del manglar. Con esta intención, hemos hecho un análisis del libro con el enfoque de una investigación cualitativa. La metodología se plantea a el trabajo de Vasconcelos & Souto (2003), que hicieran la categorización con la cual se puede obtener las informaciones acerca de: contenido teórico, contenidos complementario y de los recursos visuales del LD. En el libro que evaluamos hay una buena síntesis de lo conocimiento acerca del tema manglar y una relación de los problemas socio ambientales que ocurren debido al mal uso de la tecnología e de los conocimientos científicos. La escrita es clara y presenta las informaciones acercade los manglares, hemos visto también algunos puntos de la utilización del enfoque CTSA. Pero hay una serie de ajustes que deberían ser hechos en las próximas ediciones con la intención de crear una mejor problematización y que los estudiantes tengan una mayor participación enlos debates acerca del tema. Por lo tanto, el libro es evaluado como bueno, cuando se piensa em el tema manglar.O Livro Didático (LD) é um importante recurso para corroborar com a transcrição da mensagem científica para a educativa. No entanto, o docente deve se atentar para compreender o seu lócus de atuação e assumir a sua responsabilidade enquanto educador na análise desse material. Dito isso, e em razão da importância da Alfabetização Científica buscamos analisar como são apresentadas as questões relacionadas à ciência e sua interação com a tecnologia, sociedade e ambiente (CTSA) no Livro Didático de ciências quanto a temática ecossistema manguezal. Assim, realizamos um estudo bibliográfico com viés de uma pesquisa qualitativa. Como procedimentos metodológicos, adaptamos a metodologia de Vasconcelos & Souto (2003) que organizaram em seu estudo algumas categorias que nos permitiram elencar as informações sobre o conteúdo teórico, complementares e os recursos visuais do LD de Ciências do 7º ano. Como resultado notamos que o LD apresentou uma boa síntese do conteúdo em estudo, passando a relacioná-lo com os problemas socioambientais ocasionados pelo mau uso da ciência e tecnologia. O texto foi apresentado com clareza e suas definições apresentaram importantes informações contendo indícios da abordagem CTSA. Todavia, alguns ajustes podem ser realizados nas próximas edições para que possa problematizar melhor e consequentemente facilitar o envolvimento dos discentes nos debates em sala de aula.
