Influence of socioeconomic conditions on access to oral health services: a scoping review

Resumo: | The aims of the study were to assess the availability of scientific evidence that correlates socioeconomic conditions with access to oral health services, to verify theories that explain this relationship and to identify gaps regarding them. The search for the articles was carried out in the Embase, Lilacs, PubMed / MEDLINE, Scielo, Web of Science and Open Gray databases and an analysis of the theory present in each of the selected articles was carried out. A total of 277 articles were identified, 9 of which were included in this review. Only two types of theories were used in these studies: the theory according to Andersen, which is focused on the influence of individual factors, mainly the self-perception of health on access to health services and the theory according to Penchansky & Thomas, which attributes the concept to relationship between service provision and individuals. We conclude that there is a tendency to expand the concept of access to health services, incorporating the use of these services. |

La búsqueda de artículos se realizó en Embase, Lilacs, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scielo, Web of Science y Open Gray y se realizó un análisis de la teoría presente en cada uno de los artículos seleccionados. Se identificaron un total de 277 artículos, 9 de los cuales se incluyeron en esta revisión. En estos estudios sólo se utilizaron dos tipos de teorías: la teoría según Andersen, que se centra en la influencia de factores individuales, principalmente la autopercepción de salud sobre el acceso a los servicios de salud, y la teoría según Penchansky & Thomas, que atribuye al concepto la relación entre la prestación del servicio y los individuos. Concluimos que existe una tendencia a ampliar el concepto de acceso a los servicios de salud, incorporando al mismo el uso de estos servicios.Os objetivos deste estudo foram avaliar a disponibilidade de evidências científicas que relacionam as condições socioeconômicas com o acesso aos serviços de saúde bucal, verificar teorias que explicam esta relação e identificar lacunas referentes a elas. A busca dos artigos foi realizada nas bases Embase, Lilacs, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scielo, Web of Science e Open Grey e foi realizada uma análise da teoria presente em cada um dos artigos selecionados. Um total de 277 artigos foram identificados sendo 9 incluídos nesta revisão. Apenas dois tipos de teorias foram utilizadas nestes estudos: a teoria segundo Andersen, que é voltada para a influência dos fatores individuais, principalmente a autopercepção de saúde sobre o acesso aos serviços de saúde e a teoria segundo Penchansky & Thomas, que atribui ao conceito a relação entre a oferta de serviços e os indivíduos.
