The relevance and necessity of Science Teaching for students in the Initial Years of Elementary Scholl

Resumo: The National Curricular Common Base brings in its text that the ultimate purpose of the Science area is the development of the capacity to act in and on the world, important for the full exercise of citizenship. Learning in this area of knowledge enables students to understand, explain and intervene in the world in which they live. The same area proves to be a great contribution to the challenge of preparing students to make responsible and conscious decisions in society. In this sense, this article brings up discussions on the relevance of Science for children in the formative phase, whose research objective was to understand the relevance and need to teach Natural Sciences in the Initial Years of Elementary School. Therefore, the research in question was based on a qualitative bibliographic research. Data analysis was performed according to Laurence Bardin's content analysis assumptions. As a result, we can show that the area of Natural Sciences presents itself as a fundamental part of human survival and coexistence, since through their learning the child can come to understand the world that surrounds them and consciously intervene in it. However, this subject has gained a residual role within teaching with regard to the first school years, where it has been left in the background, giving priority to the areas of Mathematics and Languages.

El aprendizaje en esta área de conocimiento permite a los estudiantes comprender, explicar e intervenir en el mundo en el que viven. La misma área demuestra ser un gran aporte al desafío de preparar a los estudiantes para tomar decisiones responsables y conscientes en la sociedad. En ese sentido, este artículo trae discusiones sobre la relevancia de las Ciencias para niños en etapa formativa, cuyo objetivo de investigación fue comprender la relevancia y la necesidad de enseñar Ciencias Naturales en los Años Iniciales de la Enseñanza Fundamental. Por lo tanto, la investigación en cuestión se basó en una investigación bibliográfica cualitativa. El análisis de datos se realizó de acuerdo con los supuestos de análisis de contenido de Laurence Bardin. Como resultado podemos evidenciar que el área de Ciencias Naturales se presenta como parte fundamental de la supervivencia y convivencia humana, ya que a través de su aprendizaje el niño puede llegar a comprender el mundo que le rodea e intervenir conscientemente en él. Sin embargo, esta materia ha ganado un papel residual dentro de la docencia respecto a los primeros años escolares, donde ha quedado en un segundo plano, primando las áreas de Matemáticas y Lenguas.A Base Nacional Comum Curricular traz em seu texto que a finalidade última da área de Ciências é o desenvolvimento da capacidade de atuação no e sobre o mundo, importante ao exercício pleno da cidadania. As aprendizagens nessa área de conhecimento possibilita que os estudantes compreendam, expliquem e intervenham no mundo em que vivem. A mesma área se mostra como um grande contributo para o desafio de preparar os alunos para tomar decisões responsáveis e conscientes na sociedade. Nesse sentido, o presente artigo traz em pauta discussões sobre a relevância das Ciências para as crianças em fase de formação, cujo objetivo da pesquisa foi compreender a relevância e a necessidade de ensinar Ciências Naturais nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Para tanto a pesquisa em questão foi baseada em uma pesquisa bibliográfica de caráter qualitativo. A análise dos dados foi realizada segundo os pressupostos da análise de conteúdo de Laurence Bardin. Como resultado, podemos evidenciar que a área de Ciências Naturais apresenta-se como peça fundamental de sobrevivência e convivência humana, uma vez que por meio de suas aprendizagens a criança pode vir a compreender o mundo que a cerca e intervir de forma consciente nele.
