Resumo: | Syphilis is caused by a bacterium called Treponema pallidum, genus Treponema, of the Treponemataceae family, characterized by being systemic, chronic evolution and transmission through sexual or maternal-fetal intercourse. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (acquired syphilis) and vertically (congenital syphilis) transmitted from the mother's placenta to the fetus. The study aimed to establish the prevalence of congenital syphilis, tracing an epidemiological profile through the cases reported in the city of Santa Inês, Maranhão. This is a retrospective, exploratory, descriptive and quantitative cohort developed in the municipality of Santa Inês, State of Maranhão, from January 2010 to December 2018. There was a growing trend in all the years analyzed. with a substantial increase from 2017, mainly in the Northeast and Maranhão state, already in the municipality of Santa Inês in 2013, there was a considerable decrease in cases with an increase in the subsequent year and with a higher incidence in the year. 2018 with a greater number of cases than the cases of the northeast of Maranhão state. Thus, Based on the data presented, the incidence of congenital syphilis in the municipality of Santa Inês can be characterized through the epidemiological analysis of the temporal cutoff of 08 years. |

La sífilis es una enfermedad de transmisión sexual (sífilis adquirida) y vertical (sífilis congénita) transmitida desde la placenta de la madre al feto. El estudio tuvo como objetivo establecer la prevalencia de sífilis congénita, rastreando un perfil epidemiológico a través de los casos reportados en la ciudad de Santa Inês, Maranhão. Esta es una cohorte retrospectiva, exploratoria, descriptiva y cuantitativa desarrollada en el municipio de Santa Inês, estado de Maranhão, desde enero de 2010 hasta diciembre de 2018. Hubo una tendencia creciente en todos los años analizados. Con un aumento sustancial a partir de 2017, principalmente en el estado del noreste y Maranhão, ya en el municipio de Santa Inês en 2013, hubo una disminución considerable en los casos con un aumento en el año siguiente y con una mayor incidencia en el año. 2018 con un mayor número de casos que los casos en el noreste del estado de Maranhão. Por lo tanto, con base en los datos presentados, podemos caracterizar la incidencia de sífilis congénita en el municipio de Santa Inês a través del análisis epidemiológico del límite temporal de 08 años.A sífilis é causada por uma bactéria chamada Treponema pallidum, gênero Treponema, da família dos Treponemataceae, caracterizando-se por ser sistêmica, de evolução crônica e com transmissão por meio de relação sexual ou materno-fetal. A infecção é transmitida pela via sexual (sífilis adquirida) e verticalmente (sífilis congênita) pela placenta da mãe para o feto. O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar o perfil epidemiológico de sífilis congênita na cidade de Santa Inês, Maranhão. Trata-se de uma coorte retrospectiva de caráter exploratório, descritivo e quantitativo, desenvolvido no município de Santa Inês no Estado do Maranhão, no período transcorrido de janeiro de 2010 a dezembro de 2018. Observou-se uma tendência crescente em todos os anos analisados, com um aumento substancial a partir de 2017 (n=21), principalmente no Nordeste e no estado do Maranhão, já no município de Santa Inês no ano de 2013, observou-se uma queda considerável nos casos com um aumento no ano subsequente e com maiores incidência no ano de 2018 com um número de casos superior aos casos do nordeste do estado do Maranhão.
