The impacts and methods used by extesion projects on First Aid teaching in Brazil

Resumo: | Mastery of first aid knowledge is extremely useful and necessary for everyone. In this context, first aid extension projects aim to share technical knowledge with the lay population. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of extension projects and the methods used for teaching this theme. This is a narrative review in which a survey of experience reports published in the PubMed, SciELO, CAPES, and Google Academic databases was carried out. The keywords "first aid", "extension project" and "experience report" were crossed by the Boolean operator AND, considering the particularities of each base. Of the 448 studies found, 432 were excluded for not addressing experience reports, and 16 studies were included. From the information identified, the impact of the projects was organized and analyzed considering as beneficiaries of the action: students involved, participants in the action, university, and society. The impact for the students involves professional and emotional self-realization, and for the participants in the action it is related to training and autonomy to support victims. The university benefits from the closer relationship with the community. And finally, the society benefits from more qualified lay rescuers, longer survival of the injured, accident prevention, and relief of services such as the SAMU. As for the methods, there was a prevalence of the active methodology, especially projects aimed at children. Therefore, it is suggested to explore the extension projects as a strategy for sharing knowledge. Thus, the expansion of these actions can contribute to the improvement of public health. |

En este contexto, los proyectos de extensión de los primeros auxilios tienen como objetivo compartir los conocimientos técnicos con la población no especializada. Este estudio pretendía evaluar el impacto de los proyectos de extensión y los métodos utilizados para la enseñanza de este tema. Se trata de una revisión narrativa en la que se realizó un estudio de los informes de experiencia publicados en las bases de datos PubMed, SciELO, CAPES y Google Acadêmico. Las palabras clave "primeros auxilios", "proyecto de extensión" e "informe de experiencia" se cruzaron mediante el operador booleano AND, teniendo en cuenta las particularidades de cada base. De los 448 estudios encontrados, se excluyeron 432 por no abordar informes de experiencia y se incluyeron 16 estudios. A partir de la información identificada, se organizó y analizó el impacto de los proyectos considerando como beneficiarios de la acción a los alumnos implicados, los participantes en la acción, la universidad y la sociedad. El impacto para los estudiantes implica la autorrealización profesional y emocional, y para los participantes de la acción está relacionado con la formación y la autonomía para apoyar a las víctimas. La universidad se beneficia de la relación más estrecha con la comunidad. Y, por último, la sociedad se beneficia con más socorristas legos cualificados, mayor supervivencia de los heridos, prevención de accidentes y ayuda de servicios como el SAMU. En cuanto a los métodos, predominó la metodología activa, especialmente los proyectos dirigidos a los niños. Por lo tanto, se sugiere explorar los proyectos de extensión como estrategia para compartir el conocimiento. Así, la ampliación de estas acciones puede contribuir a la mejora de la salud pública.O domínio do conhecimento de primeiros socorros é extremamente útil e necessário a todos. Neste contexto, os projetos de extensão em primeiros socorros visam compartilhar conhecimento técnico com a população leiga. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o impacto de projetos extensionistas e os métodos utilizados para o ensino dessa temática. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa na qual foi realizado um levantamento de relatos de experiências publicadas nas bases de dados PubMed, SciELO, CAPES e Google Acadêmico. As palavras-chave “primeiros socorros”, “projeto de extensão” e “relato de experiência” foram cruzadas pelo operador booleano AND, considerando as particularidades de cada base. Dos 448 estudos encontrados, foram excluídos 432 por não abordar relatos de experiência, tendo sido incluídos 16 estudos. A partir das informações identificadas, o impacto dos projetos foi organizado e analisado considerando como beneficiários da ação: estudantes envolvidos, participantes da ação, universidade e sociedade. O impacto para os estudantes envolve autorrealização profissional e emocional, e para os participantes da ação está relacionado a capacitação e autonomia para suporte a vítimas. Já a universidade se beneficia com o estreitamento da relação com a comunidade. E por fim, a sociedade se beneficia com mais socorristas leigos qualificados, maior sobrevida dos acidentados, prevenção de acidentes e desoneração de serviços como o SAMU. Quanto aos métodos, houve prevalência da metodologia ativa, principalmente, projetos voltados para o público infantil. Diante disso, sugere-se explorar os projetos de extensão como estratégia para o compartilhamento de conhecimentos.
