Attributions of the clinical pharmacist in the care of the elderly person: a bibliographic review

Resumo: The growth in life expectancy has caused a large increase in the elderly population in Brazil and in the world. This longevity has resulted in many health problems, which have contributed to the irrational use of medicines, which can bring considerable problems to the health of the elderly. Therefore, it is necessary not only the dispensing of the drug, but the pharmaceutical clinical care as a whole. Where the pharmacist should be included as the professional who best understands the medicine, promoting the rational use of medicines and guiding the elderly patient. This study aims to describe the importance of the role of the clinical pharmacist in the health care of the elderly. To carry out this bibliographic review study, articles corresponding to the last 09 years in the period from 2013 to 2021 were searched, using the databases: PubMed, SciELO, LILACS and Google academic. Searches were carried out through the Health Sciences Descriptors and the Virtual Health Library. Of the articles surveyed, 11 were selected to compose this study, they showed significant results on the main diseases, drugs and drug interactions that can interfere in the care of the elderly. It is concluded that the pharmaceutical professional contributes a lot in the clinical intervention, pharmacotherapeutic and prescription of the elderly patient, for knowing all the aspects and characteristics of the medicines, it provides the correct use of the medicines, avoiding possible occurrences and drug interactions, being indispensable its presence in establishments of health, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly.

Esta longevidad ha resultado en muchos problemas de salud, que han contribuido al uso irracional de medicamentos, que pueden traer grandes daños a la salud de los ancianos. Por lo tanto, es necesaria no sólo la dispensación del medicamento, sino la atención clínica farmacéutica en su conjunto.Donde se debe incluir al farmacéutico como el profesional que mejor conoce el medicamento, promoviendo el uso racional de los medicamentos y orientando al paciente anciano. Este estudio tiene como objetivo describir la importancia del papel del farmacéutico clínico en el cuidado de la salud de los ancianos. Para realizar este estudio de revisión bibliográfica se buscaron artículos correspondientes a los últimos 09 años en el periodo de 2013 a 2021, utilizando las bases de datos: PubMed, SciELO, LILACS y Google académico.Las búsquedas se realizaron a través de los Descriptores de Ciencias de la Salud y la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud. De los artículos investigados, 11 fueron seleccionados para componer este estudio, los cuales mostraron resultados significativos sobre las principales enfermedades, fármacos e interaciones medicamentosas que pueden interferir en el cuidado de los ancianos. Se concluye que el profesional farmacéutico contribuye mucho en la intervención clínica, farmacoterapéutica y prescripción del paciente adulto mayor, por conocer todos los aspectos y características de los medicamentos,proporciona el uso correcto de los medicamentos, evitando posibles ocurrencias e interacciones medicamentosas, siendo indispensable su presencia en los establecimientos de salud, contribuyendo al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los ancianos.O crescimento da expectativa de vida, causou um grande aumento da população idosa no Brasil e no mundo. Essa longevidade trouxe como consequência, muitos problemas de saúde, que contribuíram para o uso irracional de medicamentos, podendo trazer grandes malefícios à saúde do idoso. Sendo assim, se faz necessário não apenas a dispensação do medicamento, mas o atendimento clínico farmacêutico como um todo. Onde o farmacêutico deve estar incluído como o profissional que mais entende do medicamento, promovendo o uso racional de medicamentos e orientando o paciente idoso. Este estudo tem como objetivo descrever a importância da atuação do farmacêutico clínico na atenção à saúde da pessoa idosa. Para realização deste estudo de revisão bibliográfica, pesquisou-se, em artigos, correspondentes aos últimos 09 anos no período de 2013 a 2021, utilizando as bases de dados: PubMed, SciELO, LILACS e Google acadêmico. Foram realizadas as buscas através dos Descritores em Ciências da Saúde e da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Dos artigos pesquisados 11 foram selecionados para compor este estudo, estes mostraram resultados significativos sobre as principais doenças, medicamentos e interações medicamentosas que podem interferir no cuidado à pessoa idosa.
