Epidemiological study of poisoning by pesticides in the state of Rondônia

Resumo: The cases of poisoning by pesticides are a big problem to public health that affects innumerable people in Brazil, because the human exposition to these products can cause irreversible damages and even provoke death. The goal of this study is to describe the number of cases of poisoning by pesticides registered in the state of Rondônia located in the north region of Brasil. It was done an official data survey obtained with the system of the State Agency of Health Surveillance (AGEVISA). An analysis of the data relative to the period of 5 years, that comprehend the years from 2015 and 2019, took place. According to the obtained results, there was a total of 1.132 cases of poisoning by pesticides registered in the state of Rondônia during the period of this study. Evidencing that 58,57% of the cases registered correspond to male individuals and 41,43% to female, also the age range of the poisoned individuals varied from 1 to 90 years old, however the highest index of poisoning was obtained by the individuals that were from 22 to 50 years old. Besides that, it was observed that 89,29% of the cases of poisoning evolved to cure with no sequels and just 5,74% evolved to death. Thus concludes that the state of Rondônia has a significant margin of cases of poisoning by pesticides and that male individuals are more affected by poisoning and this can be related with their occupation.

El objetivo de este estudio es describir el número de casos de intoxicación por plaguicidas registrados en el estado de Rondônia ubicado en la región norte de Brasil. Se realizó la encuesta de datos oficiales obtenidos del sistema de la Agencia Estatal de Vigilancia Sanitaria (AGEVISA). El análisis de datos se llevó a cabo por un período de 5 años, incluidos los años 2015 a 2019. Según los resultados obtenidos, hubo un total de 1,132 casos de intoxicación por plaguicidas registrados en el estado de Rondônia durante el período de este estudio. . Evidenciando que el 58.57% de los casos registrados corresponden a hombres y el 41.43% a mujeres, variando el rango de edad de los individuos con intoxicación de 1 a 90 años, sin embargo individuos de 22 a 50 años obtuvo la mayor tasa de intoxicación. Además, se observó que el 89,29% de los casos de intoxicación evolucionó a curación sin secuelas y solo el 5,74% evolucionó a muerte. En este sentido, se concluye que el estado de Rondônia tiene un margen significativo de casos de intoxicación por plaguicidas y que los individuos masculinos son los más afectados por las intoxicaciones y esto puede estar relacionado con la ocupación.Os casos de intoxicação por agrotóxicos constituem um grande problema de saúde pública que afeta inúmeras pessoas no Brasil, pois a exposição humana a estes produtos pode causar danos irreversíveis e até mesmo levar a óbito. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever o número de casos de intoxicação por agrotóxicos registrados no estado de Rondônia localizado na região norte do Brasil. Foi realizado o levantamento de dados oficiais obtidos junto ao sistema da Agência Estadual de Vigilância em Saúde (AGEVISA). Efetuou-se a análise de dados referentes a um período de 5 anos, compreendendo os anos de 2015 a 2019. De acordo com os resultados obtidos, houve um total de 1.132 casos de intoxicação por agrotóxicos registrados no estado de Rondônia durante o período deste estudo. Evidenciando que 58,57% dos casos registrados correspondem a indivíduos do sexo masculino e 41,43% ao sexo feminino, sendo que a faixa etária de indivíduos com intoxicação variou de 1 a 90 anos de idade, no entanto indivíduos de 22 a 50 anos obteve o maior índice de intoxicação. Além disso, observou-se que 89,29% dos casos de intoxicação evoluíram para cura sem sequela e apenas 5,74% evoluiu para óbito.
