Investigation of the properties of conventional concrete with addition of eggshell residues

Resumo: The present work aims to study the influence of the addition of eggshell residues on the compressive strength of conventional concrete. Several surveys have been developed with the purpose of reducing construction costs and investigating appropriate materials, especially those that are not conventional. Agroindustrial activities generate a large amount of waste with potential for a partial replacement of sand and coarse aggregates in the manufacture of mortar and concrete. A product generated in large quantities in hatcheries is eggshell, which, in addition to being a large amount of waste, disposal is a problem, it creates allergies when kept in the trash, also an undesirable smell causing irritation. The concretes were tested for compressive strength at the ages of 14 and 28 days. In relation to the concrete with treated eggshell residues, the reference concrete mix was elaborated by the ABCP-ACI method; the respective percentages of replacement of the volume of fine aggregate by eggshell residues (0% to 30%). The results show that the compressive strength decreased with the increase in the percentage of eggshell residue, which indicated that the composite was suitable for blocks and floors.

Se han desarrollado várias investigaciones con el propósito de reducir los costos de construcción e investigar los materiales adecuados, principalmente los que no son convencionales. Las actividades agroindustriales generan una gran cantidad de residuos con potencial de sustitución parcial de arena y áridos gruesos en la fabricación de morteros y hormigones. Un producto que se genera en grandes cantidades en las incubadoras es la cáscara de huevo, que además de ser una gran cantidad de desperdicio, su disposición es un problema, genera alergias cuando se guarda en la basura, además de un olor indeseable que causa irritación. Se ensayó la resistencia a la compresión de los hormigones a las edades de 14 y 28 días. En relación al hormigón con residuos de cáscara de huevo tratados, la mezcla de hormigón de referencia se elaboró ​​por el método ABCP-ACI; los respectivos porcentajes de sustitución del volumen de agregado fino por residuos de cáscara de huevo (0% a 30%). Los resultados muestran que la resistencia a la compresión disminuyó con el aumento del porcentaje de residuo de cáscara de huevo, lo que indicó que el compuesto era adecuado para bloques y pisos.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo estudar a influência da adição de resíduos de casca de ovo na resistência a compressão do concreto convencional. Várias pesquisas foram desenvolvidas com a finalidade de diminuir os custos de construção e investigar materiais apropriados, principalmente aqueles que não são convencionais. As atividades agroindustriais geram uma grande quantidade de resíduos com potencial para uma substituição parcial de areia e agregados grosseiros na fabricação de argamassa e concreto. Um produto gerado em grande quantidade em incubatórios é a casca de ovo, que, além de ser um descarte em grande quantidade, a eliminação é um problema, cria alergias quando é mantido no lixo, também um cheiro indesejável causando irritação. Os concretos foram ensaiados quanto à resistência à compressão nas idades de 14 e 28 dias. Em relação ao concreto com resíduos de casca de ovo tratada, foi elaborado o traço do concreto referência pelo método ABCP -ACI; sendo as respectivas porcentagens de substituição do volume do agregado miúdo por resíduos de casca de ovo (0% a 30%).
