Early Childhood Education and Ethnomathematics: A Study on the Emergence of Rationalities

Resumo: This article aims to analyze the productivity of a learning situation entitled “The Earth as a Peppercorn”, made with the children of four and five years of a kindergarten. Based on a theoretical-methodological framework in the field of ethnomathematics, the study is part of a Master's dissertation. Methodologically, the qualitative research relied on ethnographic approaches. The research materials, analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis, were composed of class recordings and material produced by the children. The results allowed the emergence of mathematical comparisons about distance, size and proportion of the stars.

The results allowed the emergence of mathematical comparisons about distance, size and proportion of the stars.Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la productividad de una situación de aprendizaje titulada "La tierra como un grano de pimienta", realizada con los niños de cuatro y cinco años de un jardín de infantes. Basado en un marco teórico-metodológico en el campo de la etnomatemática, el estudio es parte de una disertación de maestría. Metodológicamente, la investigación cualitativa se basó en enfoques etnográficos. Los materiales de investigación, analizados a través del análisis textual discursivo, estaban compuestos por grabaciones de clase y material producido por los niños. Los resultados permitieron la aparición de comparaciones matemáticas sobre la distancia, el tamaño y la proporción de las estrellas.O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a produtividade de uma situação de aprendizagem intitulada “A Terra como um grão de pimenta”, efetivada com as crianças de quatro e cinco anos de uma escola de Educação Infantil. Embasando-se em um referencial teórico-metodológico no campo da Etnomatemática, o estudo é parte de uma dissertação   de Mestrado. Metodologicamente a pesquisa de caráter qualitativa, contou com aproximações etnográficas. Os materiais de pesquisa, analisados por meio da Análise Textual Discursiva, compuseram-se se gravações das aulas e material produzido pelas crianças.
