Alternative diets based on rice bran and flour for experimental model nutrition - Drosophila melanogaster

Resumo: This work aims to elaborate diets based on rice by-products for the nutrition of Drosophila melanogaster and to verify the acceptability of the experimental model. To identify the nutritional composition of the samples, chemical analyzes were performed on: rice polishing bran (FPA); rice burnished bran (FBA); coarse cornmeal (FMG) and medium cornmeal (FMM). The composition of rice flour was obtained from the literature. The diets were developed with the ingredients used in the standard diet, replacing corn flour with rice by-products in different proportions in each of the diets. In the laboratory, the consistency of the diets and food consumption were tested. In the chemical analyses, the following results were obtained: higher ash, lipid, protein and dietary fiber content in rice bran compared to corn flour; Higher amount of carbohydrates in the rice flour sample, followed by FMM, FMG, FPA and FBA; Only the caloric value of FBA differed statistically. Regarding the diets: The protein content of the FFA and standard diets were similar, the FA diet had higher values; The FA and FFA diets exhibited a higher amount of lipids; The FA and FFA diets had less carbohydrates; The caloric value remained similar in the three diets. In the food consumption test, there was no statistical difference between the diets. The results of the study provide evidence that it is possible to develop diets based on rice by-products, with nutritional quality and that there was acceptance of the diets by the experimental model.

Para identificar la composición nutricional de las muestras, se realizaron análisis químicos a: salvado de arroz para pulir (FPA); salvado de arroz bruñido (FBA); harina de maíz gruesa (FMG) y harina de maíz mediana (FMM). La composición de la harina de arroz se obtuvo de la literatura. Las dietas se desarrollaron con los ingredientes utilizados en la dieta estándar, reemplazando la harina de maíz por subproductos de arroz en diferentes proporciones en cada una de las dietas. En el laboratorio se probó la consistencia de las dietas y el consumo de alimentos. En los análisis químicos se obtuvieron los siguientes resultados: mayor contenido de cenizas, lípidos, proteínas y fibra dietética en el salvado de arroz en comparación con la harina de maíz; Mayor cantidad de carbohidratos en la muestra de harina de arroz, seguida de FMM, FMG, FPA y FBA; Solo el valor calórico de FBA difirió estadísticamente. En cuanto a las dietas: El contenido proteico de las dietas FFA y estándar fue similar, la dieta FA tuvo valores más altos; Las dietas FA y FFA exhibieron una mayor cantidad de lípidos; Las dietas FA y FFA tenían menos carbohidratos; El valor calórico se mantuvo similar en las tres dietas. En la prueba de consumo de alimentos no hubo diferencia estadística entre las dietas. Los resultados del estudio evidencian que es posible desarrollar dietas a base de subproductos de arroz, con calidad nutricional y que hubo aceptación de las dietas por parte del modelo experimental.Esse trabalho objetiva elaborar dietas à base de subprodutos do arroz para a nutrição de Drosophila melanogaster e verificar a aceitabilidade do modelo experimental. Para identificar a composição nutricional das amostras foram realizadas análises químicas em: farelo de polimento do arroz (FPA); farelo do brunimento do arroz (FBA); farinha de milho grossa (FMG) e farinha de milho média (FMM). A composição da farinha de arroz foi obtida na literatura. As dietas foram desenvolvidas com os ingredientes utilizados na dieta padrão, substituindo as farinhas de milho pelos subprodutos de arroz em diferentes proporções em cada uma das dietas. Em laboratório, foi testada a consistência das dietas e o consumo alimentar. Nas análises químicas obteve-se: maior teor de cinzas, lipídeos, proteína e fibra alimentar nos farelos de arroz em relação às farinhas de milho; Maior quantidade de carboidratos na amostra de farinha de arroz, seguida de FMM, FMG, FPA e FBA; Apenas o valor calórico de FBA diferiu estatisticamente. Quanto às dietas: O teor de proteínas da dieta FFA e padrão foram semelhantes, a dieta FA apresentou valores maiores; A dieta FA e FFA exibiram maior quantidade de lipídios; A dieta FA e FFA possuíram menor quantidade de carboidratos; O valor calórico se manteve semelhante nas três dietas. No teste de consumo alimentar, não houve diferença estatística entre as dietas.
