Resumo: The main objective of this work was to quantify the phenolic compounds, and to evaluate antioxidant and antimicrobial the activity of Croton cajucara BENTH stem bark extracts. An experimental planning (Box Hunter and Hunter) of two factors and two levels determine which variables influenced in the extraction process was used. To the quantification of phenolic compounds was used the methodology of Folin-Ciocalteau. To the antioxidant activity the IC50 method was applied. For the antimicrobial analysis, the microdilution method was employed to indicate the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) against the bacterial strains, as well as fungal strain. In the quantification of phenolic compounds, there was a variation between 26.98 and 50.32 mgEAG /g. Regarding antioxidant activity, values from 9.01% to 14.03% were found. For antimicrobial activity, the extracts did not inhibit the growth of the tested bacteria and fungi. All the results were treated statistically and, in general, proved that the best extraction conditions were T = 60 °C and G = 0.10 mm.

Un diseño experimental (Box Hunter y Hunter) de dos factores y dos niveles determina qué variables influyen en el proceso de extracción. Para la cuantificación de compuestos fenólicos se utilizó la metodología de Folin-Ciocalteau. Para la actividad antioxidante se aplicó el método IC50. Para el análisis antimicrobiano se utilizó el método de microdilución para indicar la Concentración Mínima Inhibidora (CMI) frente a cepas bacterianas, así como cepas fúngicas. En la cuantificación de compuestos fenólicos, hubo una variación entre 26,98 y 50,32 mgEAG/g. En cuanto a la actividad antioxidante, se encontraron valores de 9.01% a 14.03%. En cuanto a la actividad antimicrobiana, los extractos no inhibieron el crecimiento de las bacterias y hongos probados. Todos los resultados fueron tratados estadísticamente y, en general, demostraron que las mejores condiciones de extracción fueron T= 60 ° C y G= 0.10 mm.O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar os compostos fenólicos e avaliar a atividade antioxidante e antimicrobiana dos extratos da casca do caule do Croton cajucara BENTH. Para a análise antimicrobiana, o método de microdiluição foi empregado para indicar a Concentração Inibitória Mínima (CIM) contra as cepas bacterianas, bem como cepas fúngicas. Na quantificação dos compostos fenólicos, houve variação entre 26,98 e 50,32 mgEAG/g. Em relação à atividade antioxidante, foram encontrados valores de 9,01% a 14,03%. Quanto à atividade antimicrobiana, os extratos não inibiram o crescimento das bactérias e fungos testados.
