Safety of health professionals in COVID-19 times: a reflection

Resumo: | The risk of health professionals exposed to different incidents associated with care, can cause damage to their health and that of their families, depending on the culture and institutional actions. The present study aims to: Propose a reflection on safety in professional practice, facing Covid-19, in the context of hospital care, considering Brazilian standards. It is a reflection article on health and safety measures for workers working in institutions for assistance, regulated by the Regulatory Norms of the Ministry of Labor and Employment of Brazil. The results are presented in two categories: 1. Exposure by health professionals and preventive measures to Covid-19; recommendations for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as policies that mitigate exposure to these professionals to infection, must be prepared. 2. Identification and management of the worker's exposure risk; categorize the risk of each health professional after exposure to a patient with Covid 19 and proceed with the management of the professionals. 3. Worker safety and working conditions in Brazil; the pandemic exacerbated the condition of unhealthy work that health professionals experience on a daily basis and, as a consequence, aggravates exposure to other occupational risks, due to the precariousness of material necessary for the attention of users, and the work overload. Given the current scenario, it is necessary to carry out actions based on protocols and standards, aiming at the health of the population and professionals. |

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo: Proponer una reflexión sobre la seguridad en la práctica profesional, frente a Covid-19, en el contexto de la atención hospitalaria, considerando los estándares brasileños. Es un artículo de reflexión sobre medidas de salud y seguridad para los trabajadores en instituciones de asistencia, regulado por las Normas Regulatorias del Ministerio de Trabajo y Empleo de Brasil. Los resultados se presentan en dos categorías: 1. Exposición de profesionales de la salud y medidas preventivas a Covid-19; Se deben preparar recomendaciones para el uso de equipos de protección personal (EPP), así como políticas que mitiguen la exposición de estos profesionales a la infección. 2. Identificar y gestionar el riesgo de exposición del trabajador; categorice el riesgo de cada profesional de la salud después de la exposición a un paciente con Covid-19 y proceda con el manejo de los profesionales. 3. Seguridad del trabajador y condiciones de trabajo en Brasil; La pandemia exacerbó la condición de trabajo poco saludable que los profesionales de la salud experimentan a diario y, como consecuencia, agrava la exposición a otros riesgos laborales, debido a la precariedad del material necesario para la atención de los usuarios y la sobrecarga de trabajo. Dado el escenario actual, es necesario llevar a cabo acciones basadas en protocolos y estándares, apuntando a la salud de la población y los profesionales.O risco dos profissionais da área de saúde expostos a diferentes incidentes associados aos cuidados, podem gerar danos a sua saúde e de seus familiares, a depender da cultura e ações institucionais. O presente estudo tem como objetivo: Propor uma reflexão sobre a segurança na prática profissional, frente o Covid-19, no contexto da assistência hospitalar, considerando as normas brasileiras. Trata-se de um artigo de reflexão sobre medidas de segurança e saúde dos trabalhadores que atuam nas instituições destinadas à assistência, regulamentada pelas Normas Regulamentadoras do Ministério do Trabalho e do Emprego do Brasil. Os resultados são apresentados em duas categorias: 1. Exposição dos profissionais de saúde e medidas de prevenção ao Covid-19; recomendações de utilização de Equipamentos de Proteção Individual (EPI), assim como politicas que mitiguem a exposição a estes profissionais à infeção devem ser preparadas. 2. Identificação e gerenciamento do risco de exposição do trabalhador; categorizar o risco de cada profissional de saúde após a exposição a um paciente com Covid 19 e proceder o gerenciamento dos profissionais. 3. Segurança dos trabalhadores e condições de trabalho no Brasil; a pandemia exacerbou a condição de trabalho insalubre que os profissionais de saúde vivenciam no dia a dia e, como consequência, agrava a exposição a outros riscos ocupacionais, pela precariedade de material necessário à atenção dos usuários, e pela sobrecarga de trabalho.
