The use of geotechnologies in the analysis of irrigated areas of Córrego da Conserva watershed in Vargem Grande do Sul, SP: An agroecological approach

Resumo: The present study aims to characterize the land use and occupation of the Córrego da Conserva Basin in Vargem Grande do Sul - SP. The mapping was performed using the free software QGIS to study the area and it enabled the pursuit of sustainability. The classes obtained were: nascent, water bodies, water courses, central pivot, built area, sugarcane, citrus, pasture, native vegetation and the Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs). The results obtained highlight the small proportion of 4.18% of native vegetation present in the study area. The occupied territory shows an intensive use of water in the irrigation of conventional agriculture, with the technique of central pivot, thus evidencing conflict in water use. Thus, it is necessary to plan the use an occupation of the land, in the search for sustainability with an agroecological focus. In this sense, it should be emphasized the importance of adequate land management and irrigation, in order to collaborate for the planning of the area and thus support local public policies.

El mapeo fue realizado usando el software libre QGIS para el estudio del área y posibilitó la búsqueda de la sustentabilidad. Las clases obtenidas fueron: naciente, cuerpos de agua, cursos de agua, pivote central, área construida, caña de azúcar, citrus, pasto, vegetación nativa y las Áreas de Preservación Permanente (APP’s) presentes en el área. Los resultados obtenidos destacan la pequeña proporción del 4,18% de la vegetacion autóctona presente en el área de estudio. El territorio ocupado muestra un uso intensivo del agua en el riego de la agricultura convencional, con la técnica de pivote central, por lo tanto, evidenciando el conflicto en el uso del agua. Por lo tanto, es necesario planificar el uso y la ocupaión de la tierra, en la búsqueda de la sostenibilidad con un enfoque agroecológico. En este sentido, cabe destacar la importancia de una gestión adecuada de la tierra y el riego, para colaborar en la planificación de la zona y apoyar así las políticas públicas locales.O trabalho visou à caracterização do uso e ocupação da terra da Bacia Hidrográfica Córrego da Conserva em Vargem Grande do Sul – SP. O mapeamento foi realizado com o uso do software livre QGIS para estudo da área. As classes obtidas foram: nascente, corpos de água, cursos de água, pivô central, área construída, cana–de-açúcar, citros, pasto, vegetação nativa e as Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APP’s) presentes na área. Os resultados obtidos ressaltam a pequena proporção de 4,18% de vegetação nativa presente na área de estudo. O território ocupado mostra um uso intensivo da água na irrigação da agricultura convencional, com a técnica de pivô central, evidenciando assim conflito no uso da água. Assim, torna-se necessário um planejamento do uso e ocupação da terra, na busca da sustentabilidade com enfoque agroecológico.
