Extension program for care of cleft lip and palate: speech therapy

Resumo: | Objective: To present the stages of speech therapy as proposal for a program for health care for children and adolescents with Cleft Lip and Palate. Methods: Report of experience of the performance of academics and graduate students in an extension project aimed at the care of children and teenagers with Cleft Lip and Palate. Results: Speech-language pathology actions were presented that take place according to the age group of the individual were presented (0-12 months; 12-24 months; 24-48 months; 48 months - 18 years). The assessment of orofacial motricity, speech, swallowing, neuropsychological development and hearing is present at all stages of the program, so that altered functions can be qualified and rehabilitated early. Conclusions: this study demonstrated the importance of extension programs and speech-language pathology follow-up for the health care of children with clefts in the beginning of life up to 18 years of age. In addition, the activities of the extension project contributed to the knowledge of academics and speech-language pathology professionals about cleft. |

Métodos: Informe de experiencia en el desempeño de estudiantes académicos y graduados en un proyecto de extensión dirigido al cuidado de niños con labio y paladar hendidos. Resultados: Se presentaron las acciones fonoaudiológicas que se desarrollan según el grupo etario del individuo (0-12 meses; 12-24 meses; 24-48 meses; 48 meses - 18 años). Todas etapas del programa está presente la evaluación del desarrollo motor orofacial, habla, deglución, neuropsicológico y audición, para que funciones alteradas puedan ser calificadas y rehabilitadas a tiempo. Conclusiones: este estudio demostró la importancia del programa de extensión y seguimiento patologia del habla y lenguaje para atención de niños con labio y paladar hendidos en el inicio de la vida hasta los 18 años. Las actividades del proyecto de extensión contribuyeron al conocimiento de profesionales académicos y de patología del habla y lenguaje sobre la malformacion. Objetivo: Apresentar as etapas de atendimento fonoaudiológico como uma proposta de programa para atenção à saúde de crianças e adolescentes com Fissuras Labiopalatinas. Métodos: Relato de experiência de atuação de acadêmicos e pós-graduandos em um projeto de extensão direcionado ao atendimento de crianças com Fissuras Labiopalatinas. Resultados: Foram apresentadas as ações fonoaudiológicas que acontecem de acordo com a faixa etária do indivíduo (0-12 meses; 12-24 meses; 24-48 meses; 48 meses – 18 anos). Em todas as etapas do programa estão presentes a avaliação da motricidade orofacial, da fala, da deglutição, do desenvolvimento neuropsicológico e da audição, para que as funções alteradas possam ser habilitadas e reabilitadas precocemente. Conclusões: Este trabalho demonstrou a importância de um programa de extensão e acompanhamento fonoaudiológico para a assistência à saúde de crianças com fissuras no início da vida até os 18 anos.
