Suicidal behavior in crack and alcohol users

Resumo: Objective: to identify and compare the presence of suicidal behavior among crack and alcohol users. Method: quantitative, transversal, descriptive and analytical approach. Data collection took place through interviews with 105 patients allocated in two groups according to the psychiatric clinical diagnosis, in the Alcohol group and the Crack group. Results: Sociodemographic characteristics differed significantly between groups in relation to age (p <0.05). A greater number of patients in the Crack group had suicidal ideation 14 (26.9%) and a previous suicide attempt 18 (34.6%), when compared with the Alcohol group in suicidal ideation 8 (15.1%) and attempted suicide. suicide 15 (28.3%). Logistic regression analysis found no significance in the type of drug as a predictor of suicidal ideation (p = 0.14) and attempted suicide (p = 0.48). Conclusion: when identifying and comparing the presence of suicidal behavior among crack and alcohol users, it was noticed the predominance of suicidal behavior more present in crack users.

La recolección de datos se realizó a través de entrevistas con 105 pacientes asignados en dos grupos de acuerdo con el diagnóstico clínico psiquiátrico, en el grupo de Alcohol y el grupo de Crack. Resultados: las características sociodemográficas diferían significativamente entre los grupos en términos de edad (p <0.05). Un mayor número de pacientes en el grupo de Crack tuvo ideación suicida 14 (26.9%) y un intento de suicidio previo 18 (34.6%), en comparación con el grupo de Alcohol en ideación suicida 8 (15.1%) e intento de suicidio. suicidio 15 (28,3%). El análisis de regresión logística no encontró significación en el tipo de droga como predictor de ideación suicida (p = 0.14) e intento de suicidio (p = 0.48). A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista com 105 pacientes alocados em dois grupos de acordo com o diagnóstico clínico psiquiátrico, no grupo Álcool e grupo Crack. Resultados: As características sociodemográficas diferiram significativamente entre os grupos em relação a idade (p < 0.05). Um número maior de pacientes do grupo Crack apresentou ideação suicida 14 (26,9%) e tentativa pregressa de suicídio 18 (34,6%), quando comparado com o grupo Álcool na ideação suicida 8 (15,1%) e tentativa de suicídio 15 (28,3%). Análise de regressão logística não encontrou significância no tipo de droga como previsora da ideação suicida (p = 0.14) e da tentativa de suicídio (p = 0.48).
