Resumo: | The objective of this research was to carry out an ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants used by residents of a rural area in a municipality in the State of Paraná, Brazil. 91 residents of a defined area were interviewed, from May to October 2019. For data collection, a semi-structured questionnaire was used. Qualitative data analysis was performed using the Stata 12 program. In addition to descriptive statistics, the χ2 (Chi-square) statistic was calculated to verify the association between income and use of medicinal plants and education and use of medicinal plants. The profile of those surveyed exposed the prevalence of women (91.21%), Paraná (59.34%), descendants of Italians (58.24), farmers (58.24%), Catholics (96.70%), married (72.53%), with incomplete elementary education (56.04%) and income of up to two minimum wages (58.24%). Knowledge about medicinal plants was obtained from ancestors (86.81%). The plants are used because they are natural (71.43%) and are grown mainly on the property. |

Se entrevistaron 91 residentes de un área definida, de mayo a octubre de 2019. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario semiestructurado. El análisis de datos cualitativos se realizó mediante el programa Stata 12. Además de la estadística descriptiva, se calculó la estadística χ2 (Chi-cuadrado) para verificar la asociación entre ingresos y uso de plantas medicinales y educación y uso de plantas medicinales. El perfil de los encuestados expuso la prevalencia de mujeres (91,21%), Paraná (59,34%), descendientes de italianos (58,24), agricultores (58,24%), católicos (96,70%), casados (72,53%), con educación básica incompleta (56,04%) e ingresos de hasta dos salarios mínimos (58,24%). El conocimiento sobre plantas medicinales se obtuvo de antepasados (86,81%). Las plantas se utilizan porque son naturales (71,43%) y se cultivan principalmente en la propiedad.O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar um estudo etnobotânico de plantas medicinais utilizadas por moradores de uma área rural de um município do Estado do Paraná, Brasil. Foram entrevistados 91 moradores de uma área definida, no período de maio a outubro de 2019. Para a coleta de dados, foi utilizado um questionário semiestruturado. A análise qualitativa dos dados foi realizada por meio do programa Stata 12. Além da estatística descritiva, foi calculada a estatística χ2 (Qui-quadrado) para verificar a associação entre renda e uso de plantas medicinais e escolaridade e uso de plantas medicinais. O perfil dos pesquisados expôs a prevalência de mulheres (91,21%), paranaenses (59,34%), descendentes de italianos (58,24), agricultores (58,24%), católicos (96,70%), casados (72,53%), com ensino fundamental incompleto (56,04%) e renda de até dois salários mínimos (58,24%). O conhecimento sobre as plantas medicinais foi obtido dos ancestrais (86,81%).
