Resumo: Melasma is the result of excessive production of melanin, the main pigment that constitutes skin color. It has a multifactorial cause and affects sun-exposed areas of the body, such as the face. Melasma directly impacts the self-esteem of affected patients, impacting their quality of life and social life. The objective: To analyze the benefits of aesthetic treatments in reducing melasma to improve the quality of life of women. This is a descriptive bibliographic research. The results intend to demonstrate the effectiveness of the treatment and the improvement of self-esteem of melasma patients. Conclusion: effective treatments bring benefits to the quality of life of melasma patients. It is suggested that further studies on the subject are carried out and that these researches can present information about the most effective treatments and how they act in clearing melasma.

El melasma impacta directamente en la autoestima de los pacientes afectados, impactando su calidad de vida y vida social. El Objetivo é analizar los beneficios de los tratamientos estéticos en la reducción del melasma para mejorar la calidad de vida de la mujer. Se trata de una investigación bibliográfica descriptiva. Los resultados pretenden demostrar la eficacia del tratamiento y la mejora de la autoestima de los pacientes con melasma. los tratamientos eficaces aportan beneficios a la calidad de vida de los pacientes con melasma. Se sugiere que se realicen más estudios sobre el tema y que estas investigaciones puedan presentar información sobre los tratamientos más efectivos y cómo actúan en la eliminación del melasma.O melasma é resultado da produção excessiva de melanina, principal pigmento que constitui a coloração da pele. Possui causa multifatorial e acomete áreas fotoexpostas do corpo, como o face. O melasma impacta diretamente na autoestima dos pacientes acometidos, impactando na sua qualidade de vida e convívio social.  O objetivo é analisar os benefícios dos tratamentos estéticos na redução do melasma para melhoria da qualidade de vida de mulheres. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva de natureza bibliográfica. Os resultados pretendem demostrar a eficácia do tratamento e a melhoria da autoestima de portadoras de melasma. Os tratamentos eficazes trazem benefícios na qualidade de vida dos portadores de melasma.
