Public policy challenges and perspectives in reducing intentional lethal violent crimes in Northern Brazil

Resumo: This study aimed to analyze violent criminality in Northern Brazil, as well as to understand why, the Southeast region, specially the state of São Paulo, has the lowest crime rate. To achieve the objectives, a descriptive and bibliographic research was carried out, in which statistical data from several databases were used, among which stands out the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, Atlas of Violence, Brazilian Forum on Public Security. The results indicate that the Northern region of Brazil is currently one of the most violent regions. This information reveal that the strengthening of operators and managers of public security agencies, quality education and employment and income can contribute to the reduction of crime.

Para lograr los objetivos se realizó una investigación descriptiva y bibliográfica en la que se utilizaron datos estadísticos de diversas bases de datos, entre ellas el Instituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística, Atlas de Violencia, Foro Brasileño de Seguridad Pública. Los hallazgos indican que la región Norte de Brasil es actualmente una de las más violentas. Esas informaciones revelan que el fortalecimiento de operadores y gerentes de agencias de seguridad pública y educación de calidad, empleo e ingresos pueden contribuir a la reducción de delitos.Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a criminalidade violenta na região Norte do Brasil, bem como compreender por que a região Sudeste, especificamente o estado de São Paulo, apresenta o menor índice de criminalidade. Para atingir os objetivos propostos, realizou-se pesquisa descritiva e bibliográfica utilizando-se dados estatísticos de várias bases. Entre elas, destaca-se o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, Atlas da Violência, Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública. Os achados indicam que a região Norte do Brasil é uma das mais violentas atualmente.
